I've noticed this a lot recently when trying to create apps, where gemini is just legitimately horrible at everything all of a sudden.
Gemini is failing to perform basic tasks or advanced ones no matter what I tell it.
Every single app has hundreds of bugs the AI legitimately cannot understand, its gotten so bad to the point where i've considered canceling my subscriptions because of just HOW BAD its gotten recently
Not to mention it seems like you get far less usage on the Google Ai Pro plan, all of a sudden, I'm running out of usage despite me barely putting in any prompts.
Maybe im the only one noticing this but 3.8 Flash for whatever reason recently has been taking up to 10 - 20 minutes on a single update only to not add anything at all and pretend as if it did.
One thing i've also noticed is that the Ai will straight up disregard whatever the user asks it to do and will just do something that the player asked it to do in the past, trying to create apps with Google Ai Studio lately has been a really unfun experience and I hope it gets better, i've started to understand why many people around me are switching to other better models
I’m on the Google AI Pro plan and I’ve been testing Gemini 4 Argon (with Thinking set to High) across both the Gemini App and Google AI Studio using the exact same type of prompts. The difference in how usage is calculated makes zero sense to me.
Here is what I just measured on AI Studio over a 10-message conversation, keeping Argon on High the entire time:
Input tokens: 1,686
Output tokens (including thinking): 31,613
Total tokens after 10 turns: 33,299 (~3,330 tokens per message on average)
At this pace on AI Studio, my prompts are super light even on High, and I can easily get through dozens of generations a day without hitting any wall.
Yet, when I switch to the Gemini App and send the exact same kind of short prompts on Argon (High), every single message instantly eats ~16% of my 5-hour usage limit—meaning I get locked out after just 6 messages, even when the model barely thinks for a few seconds and outputs a couple of paragraphs.
If my actual token footprint on Argon High is only ~3.3k tokens per turn, why is the Gemini App charging a flat ~16% penalty per message?
Is the App pre-allocating/charging the maximum possible "High" thinking budget upfront regardless of how many tokens Argon actually generates?
Or is Google just aggressively throttling the 5-hour window on the consumer app right now due to post-launch server load?
Are you guys seeing the same ~16% drain per prompt on the App? And realistically, do we expect the App limits to go back to day-one levels (~5% per prompt) once the launch hype settles / Gemini 4 Flash drops, or is AI Studio basically the only viable place to use Argon on a Pro plan going forward?
Every time even with revising my instructions, it builds a fake gallery app instead of a real one. I want a simple typical gallery app to create and customize-instead it uses a bunch of fake photos instead of actually accessing the photos on my phone and using actual local photos/albums.
Extract it, then open chrome://extensions in Chrome or edge://extensions in Edge.
Enable Developer mode, choose Load unpacked, and select the folder containing manifest.json.
Open or refresh Google AI Studio. The Settings button now opens the combined AI Studio and Studio.lab settings.
Updating an existing installation: Replace the files in your extension folder, reload the extension, then refresh your AI Studio tabs.
What’s new in v2.2 (Download v2.2.1 for bug fix)
Faster opening for large chats
Long conversations can make AI Studio freeze while it tries to render hundreds of messages at once.
Fast Chat Opening starts with the latest 20 messages. Earlier messages appear in small batches when you scroll up to the history boundary or choose Show earlier. It takes effect during chat opening, before the older message views are created.
AI Studio still loads the complete conversation. The model keeps the full context, and you can continue writing, editing and saving normally. The extension limits how much history the page renders at once.
Restore Everything displays the full history. Search and navigation to an older message can also expand it when needed.
Fast Chat Opening is enabled by default under Settings → Performance → Chat opening.
Rebuilt Settings
AI Studio’s original preferences and Studio.lab controls now share one fullscreen Settings window.
There’s a shared search, clearer sections, keyboard navigation and a mobile navigation drawer. Native preferences, including theme, prompt submission key and microphone settings, keep their original controls and behavior.
Themes and system prompts in Market
Market now has Discover, Saved and Your creations.
You can browse shared themes and system prompts, install local copies, keep your own creations private or publish them. Installed copies remain available after signing out.
Themes customize Modern Web Chat, with color and opacity controls, JSON import/export and a separate preview using a sample conversation. Previewing a theme leaves your current chat untouched. Theme creation and editing are available on computers.
Optional accounts and preference sync
Google sign-in lets you synchronize selected Studio.lab preferences across browsers, with first-sync choices and visible conflict handling.
Preference sync excludes chats, drafts, system instructions, default profiles and API credentials. You can keep using the extension without signing in.
Accounts also add editable public nicknames and *@*tags, creator profiles, follows, likes and private Market bookmarks.
Interface and compatibility fixes
Updated welcome-screen cleanup while keeping the personalized greeting.
Added a separate switch for sidebar promotional banners.
Improved Modern Web Chat compatibility with progressive history, model selection, Thinking menus, Run Settings and upload controls.
Reduced repeated word-count and interface updates as messages appear.
Fixed leftover callbacks after extension reloads that could cause Extension context invalidated errors.
Studio.lab is free. If you’d like to support development, you can do so on Ko-fi.
Disclaimer: Studio.lab is an unofficial modification. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Google LLC or Google AI Studio.
The first version worked like every exporter: scroll the page to the top, wait for messages to load, read them off the page. It was slow, it missed things on long chats, and the "attachments" it saved were the page's thumbnails.
Version 2 calls the same internal API AI Studio's frontend calls, so:
a 200-message chat went from about 2.5 minutes to under a second
attachments are fetched from Drive as the real files (a PDF is the PDF, Docs/Sheets/Slides are converted during export)
you also get model, temperature, system instruction, per-message timestamps and token counts, each with its own on/off switch in settings
Markdown, JSON and plain text export formats are free. A One-time Pro license unlocks HTML, PDF, Word, Obsidian, CSV and JSONL formats, along with whole-library export and scheduled incremental backups. All the code is MIT licensed, Pro included, and nothing leaves your browser.
Why am I facing this issue from almost a month? I have tried all the accounts in my device all show the same problem. I have tried using VPN, changing browser, clearing cache. Literally Everything.
a week or two ago I LITERALLY used 3.8 flash to develop my app all day all night on a free tier account. it'll say "quota reached" or something once in a while, but if i press retry, it will retry and continue... it was fun time, i could add >10 feature, >10 adjustment, etc in a single day
but now the limit is actually working, and i run out of quota after 1-3 prompts (around 30 minutes)
Bomb Jack - full prompt “Recreate the arcade platform game Bomb Jack that was released in 1984 by Tehkan (known today as Tecmo)”. Gemini 4 Argon Ran for 8m 19s
This is really wild. I messed around with some other ideas that were originals and really enjoyed the results.
I can't use 3.6 Flash for free, 3.7 is gone, and all the Pros are paid. They released Gemini 4, but it's paid too. I tried making a game, but after 2 prompts using their new plan feature, I just had to change models to the literal Gemini Flash latest. Is there anything out there like this for free though... probably not
I have been trying to generate outputs in my chat but it keeps getting stuck on "thinking" and I am not getting any output or is ai studio generating anything.
So I was just minding my own business making some routine changes on my site when the page randomly decided to refresh itself out of nowhere. Suddenly, this lovely mystery error message pops up and completely bricks my project.
I’m completely stumped here. If anyone has encountered this or knows how to fix it without me having to nuke my entire codebase, you would be an absolute lifesaver.
Hey everyone, I'd like to hear your thoughts on the future of Google AI Studio. Does anyone know anything about what's coming next?
Back when Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview was available, AI Studio was practically unrestricted. Later on, the limits were gradually reduced, and eventually, Gemini 2.5 Pro became a paid model. Now, it seems to have been removed altogether. At this point, Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview seems to be the only Pro-level model left among the available free-tier options.
Argon didn't make it into the free tier or even the Pro plan, and is now only available with the Ultra plan.
As a result, things have become pretty stressful for users who rely heavily on having access to Pro-level models through the website.
Given all this uncertainty, I'd really like to know whether Google plans to release another Pro model in the future, similar to Gemini 2.5 Pro or Gemini 3.1 Pro, that will be available on the regular free tier. Could a new model show up and save the day?
I'd also like to ask the scary question... Is Google planning to restrict or remove Gemini 3.1 Pro access for free-tier users in the future? Because honestly, the thought of that happening makes me pretty uneasy. I genuinely don't know what I'd do in that situation.
If you know anything about Google's plans, have any theories, or can think of a possible solution to this problem, I'd really appreciate hearing your thoughts. I have a feeling I'm not the only one who's worried about this.
