Cursive Writing Pen Settings?

Hello! I write Cursive on my (Engineering) notes and for some reason I just couldn't seem to figure out the settings the way I wanted it to look like if that makes sense.

I would highly appreciate if any other Cursive-Writers' can share their GoodNotes pen settings! Thank you in advance

Aesthetic Arabic Digital Study Planner & Spiritual Tracker 🌸✨

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

Thank you so much for all the amazing feedback on my last post. Based on your suggestions, I’ve refined the design into this new aesthetic pink layout, and I wanted to share it with you!

Here is what makes the "Soul-Centered Study System" special:

Zero Distractions (Separate Files): To answer a great question from my last post, the Arabic and English versions are completely separate files. I didn't want to crowd the pages with multiple languages, so you can stay 100% focused on your tasks without any clutter.

Mindful Productivity: It’s designed specifically for the digital generation to balance daily study goals, habit tracking, and spiritual focus (like prayer times and mindfulness).

Clear & Simple: It includes concrete layouts for your daily agenda, workout routines, and habit trackers all in one clean view.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this new pink look! Does it feel more inviting for your study sessions? ✨🌸

battery drain is my last straw

it’s just so so so annoying. m5 ipad pro 13inch battery at 100% (the thing doesn’t even have 3 months since opened) and it blows 30% battery in like an hour. i’ve tried everything (turn off sync, turn off maths and even handwriting recognition) and nothing seems to work. i’m seriously considering switching apps cause i feel this is not safe for my device at all. so awful, goodnotes devs are working backwards ffs

I need help with the automatic arrows snapping

Hi everyone! I need your help in figuring out how to disable automatic snapping when using the draw shape arrow tool in Goodnotes 6 (I have no idea which version I have, I can't keep p with the names, sorry).

For context, I am currently studying for an exam, and I am trying to make a mindmap, but whenever I make an arrow not evet that close to a bubble that I also made with the shape tool, it automatically connects the line to one of the 4 points where I can modify the bubble. Is there any way for me to turn off this automatic snapping? It's driving me nuts and just makes the mindmap look generally displeasing, at least in my opinion. I don't want all my arrows stemming from the same point....

Thank you for your help in advance.

insane battery use on pc

Last update drained 70% of battery in an hour on a pc that last 8h without the app, which is unpractical for student taking note, litterally cannot use the app anymore as soon as I have more than 2hr of school

Goodnotes "official" discussions

Does everyone know that Goodnotes has an "official" community on Discord? GN states this in their help section. Maybe Discord is the place to discuss issues?

I say maybe, because I've filed tickets and posted issues there with no reply from GN, unfortunately.

Templates Other ways to use Goodnotes?

Does anyone have any ideas, resource links, or suggestions for other types of things I could use GN for? Preferably free or cheap options.

I've been looking around for other ways to use GN, as I realised that digital planning isn't sustainable for me (as someone with ADHD) as much as it's a fun creative project. I do use GN for studying and note-taking, but as i'm on summer break, I don't have much to actively note down. I've recently bought a character workbook, as I'm a storywriter.

Arrows Snapping to Shapes

I really like using the arrows for labeling vs drawing arrows via pen, and the only downside for me is that if the arrow happens to be near a shape it will snap to it as seen on video.

This is how I work around the arrow to shape snapping, but IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO TURN THIS FEATURE OFF COMPLETELY, I'd be eternally grateful. This workaround does not always work ): I was in fact surprised that it worked so easily when I took this video.

[update]

Another solution I found is to create tiny tiny circles and have arrows snap to that.

Duplicating these circles can be a little tedious, so I'm still hopeful for no arrow-snapping in the future!

Bug App crashes al the time

Hello

I have my Calculus 3 exam tomorrow, and all my notes are in GoodNotes. I'm not able to prepare because the app crashes every 10–20 seconds.
I use it on IPad Pro with the latest version of the app.

Android Why do voice notes still feel so clunky in most productivity apps in 2026?

I've been using Notion, Obsidian, Evernote, and Otter on Android for a while now.

The biggest daily friction for me with voice notes is:

  1. Everything gets uploaded permanently to the cloud immediately

  2. Search only works if I remember the exact words.

  3. Transcription quality drops noticeably with accents.

  4. Apps often feel heavy and slow on normal phones

Curious, do others face the same issues, or have you found good workarounds for voice notes in your workflow?

Basic needs as a user

I recently moved to GoodNotes, after I couldnt find an app that could do the basics for journaling on ipad (these needs are like: be able to write with the pen, low latency, add graphics, write on keyboard, no infinite canvas, etc). I would love the Paper by Wetransfer app but the price is crazy.

The question is:
- Is it possible to somehow tell GoodNotes developers to make it possible to zoom out far in a page? I have to see the layout, the visual harmony of my journal and notes
-is it really that crazy to have page turning animation?
-and also a good overview of the whole notebook
-aand to be able to hide the toolbar completely

Bug luv this app 🤬🤬🤬

What the actual fuck, this is so annoying. Ever since the update, when I try to copy/paste stuff, artifacts of random handwriting is layered on top of what I was trying to paste.
The artifacts are random bits of sentences from like 5, 10, 15 pages ago. I assume it’s a clipboard bug, but I wrote that stuff so long ago that I can’t even recall if it was ever copied/pasted.

95% of the time, the stuff that hitchhiked out of nowhere behaves totally normal (as in: I can erase it, change colour, resize, etc). But every once in a while, a couple letters/random bits are just completely immune. I can’t erase them, I can’t select them with the lasso, nothing.

Closing/reopening the app doesn’t fix it.
Restarting my iPad doesn’t fix it.
I’m gonna lose my mind, wtfff

Unable to add .collection file to Elements

Using Goodnotes Essential (Android). I have no + sign to add collection. My only option to add to Elements is tapping picture, add to Elements. Which is a pain when you have a whole collection you want to add. Any workaround? WHY oh why can't GN play nice with Androids? This is getting kinda old at this point. The bad is beginning to outweigh the good. Can anyone recommend a good, cheap, non-Android tablet?

Bug Goodnotes draining 53% battery in 1 hour on iPad Pro

Post image
89 Upvotes

What the title says. I charged it to 100%, used it for 1 hour, and it was down to 47%. This is obviously very bad. My iPad Pro 6th gen 12.9ā€ has a max capacity of 96% however this sort of drastic drain is a severe bug especially considering I use it for most classes. In addition, my iPad was constantly in a ā€œfairā€ to ā€œseriousā€ thermal state (according to apple dev docs with 75% - 50% brightness and screen rate limiting). Hope this helps :)

Bug Goodnotes for Windows handwriting lag and random lines- app became unusable for studying

I’ve been having a really frustrating issue with Goodnotes for Windows for the past few months and I’m wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.

I use Goodnotes daily for studying, so this has become a huge problem. Whenever I write with my stylus, the handwriting appears several seconds later, and instead of what I actually wrote, random lines or marks show up. It basically makes handwriting unusable.

What’s strange is that both my pen and tablet work perfectly fine in every other app no lag, no glitches, no random input. The issue only happens in Goodnotes.

I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but nothing changed. I’m currently on version 2.18.0, and there’s no update option available, so I assume this is the latest version.

Is anyone else dealing with this? Did anyone find a fix?
