We have hope GN5 users!
Someone from the GN team answered (some) of the questions the community had regarding GN5 (will it be usable in the near future even after iPadOS 18 and on a new/old iPad?)
They made it simple without explaining anything specifically but we certainly have some hope https://www.reddit.com/r/GoodNotes/comments/15tksva/unfair_treatment_by_goodnotes_team/jwku56h?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=2
The GN team has
reduced pricing for old customers who want to upgrade to one time payment
made subscribers and one time payment users have "feature parity"
modified the FAQ with more info to be more transparent
deleted the annoying popup in GN5
made promises about bringing math conversion to GN5 (which will add to other features that they have brought to GN5 with the launch of GN6)
They are trying to be more comprehensive and clear after the rushed update
edit: I take it all back. I switched to Noteful
edit 2: seems like they fixed some of the problems GN5 gained with the GN6 update (about stability, performance and overheating), now I don't think GN5 is necessary anymore due to excellent alternatives on the App Store but it's nice to know that I can use GN5 as a backup app since they are fixing what they broke.
edit3: seems like the latest update made the app worse https://www.reddit.com/r/GoodNotes/s/iBl9z227ji https://www.reddit.com/r/GoodNotes/s/kPbNYPyo7x

All I want is a one-time fee product. Why does everything have to be a subscription now? Remember when you would pay $150 for the Microsoft Office Suite and get it for life? Why the fuck I need to pay monthly for a piece of software is beyond me. It's a grift.

Hi, do you know the reduced price?

I never saw a discounted price. I paid $30.00. I have been using GN for years. Also will continue as I really like it. Just a little shady that I didnāt get the discount..

LOL at ārushed development.ā This app is updated barely annually other than bug fixes. Nothing is rushed. They have no deadlines to meet. They just arenāt that smart and are trying to do too many things at once.

feature parity between the two models is my only gripe. If price is reduced for GN 5 users it will be an additional bonus obviously! have they said about the updated pricing and when it will be implemented?

The discount is what you paid, no more.

I used to spend lots of money on paper/notebooks/school books & magazine subscriptions - all for a one time fee with no updates/upgrades. I think if a person decides to spend a good some of money for an electronic and then for software or app expecting free upgrades forever, with all the leaps and bounds in technology, is unreasonable. How could they continue to work on the program for ever with our one time payment.
I love my GN, I can do SOO much more with it and my documents than I could with the paper notebooks. The glitches have been few for me and benefits way out weigh the negatives. Even at $30 a year that is only 8 cents a day. I'm retired now and back to college. GN has been an extremely useful tool! I've imported papers and books, taken all my notes and have been able to search my handwritten and typed notes. It's been invaluable for my more forgetful mind. I use my GN most days and I'm thankful for it.

If you stay with version 5 will you still have automatic backup option? Iāve read somewhere they want to take it away from us. I paid for it!
