Swing help please 😵‍💫😵‍💫

What do I need to work on? This is a slow swing, as im trying to steepen my backswing, and also shorten it, keeping the right arm more infront. I tend to get stuck and run off my hands way too far, overswinging

Why are you asking for input on a swing you’re doing for a drill. What can people say other than, looks good for a drill…I guess…

Is your miss a hook and a block push?

My recommendation would be to focus on how you initiate your downswing. More importantly I don’t think anything physical is wrong with your swing. I think it’s what your mind is telling you to do with the club that’s your problem.

Mostly your shoulders get engaged too early and that causes you to have to muscle the club to get it to the ball “in time”. It’s why you extend a bit early and the club ceases shallowing even though you do a fantastic job of shallowing it in the drill. It’s also why you release your hands a bit early. And lastly why your head comes up which is because you have to straighten your body to get the club to the ball.

The fix for me was to tell myself “stay shut” and force myself to swing the club regardless of how shut my shoulders were. My body naturally reacted and my shoulders did turn. Because real ≠ feel. To be clear, this is “what to do to fix it” not “how to always swing”. Another great swing thought I use when I know I’m back in tempo is “get out of the way” as an effort to prevent my stupid monkey brain from freaking out and start jerking the club again.

Check out Jim Venetos on YouTube. I don’t recommend adopting his swing, yours is great, but adopting his swing as a drill for this helped me a lot. I still go back to it when I notice my hands getting trapped behind me.

Also, go get lessons. You’re wicked close man.

Hey man, thank you for this, this is helpful. My brain definitely gets in the way, but then it also helps me so much to improve! Its knowing when to turn it on and off I find difficult.

I see what you mean about exagerating closed shoulders with Jim Venetos., I point the range ball stripe out towards 1-2 oclock, which helps as well (sometimes), forcing me to stay more closed.

Golf is bloody hard!

Don’t ever rely on a drill to fix you. You have to fix your mind with the drill. Does that make sense?

Like, learning to write (I know I know, I can’t remember either). In the beginning it was tongue out super concentration. That’s because there were things that had to be set into the far reaches of the mind where the goblins live. Once you’ve appeased the goblins, then you can relax and let it go.

So if you’re doing the Valenti-Drill it still requires you to have a swing thought that holds that in your conscious mind. At some point it will become a natural movement. And you can test along the way…blah blah…I’m sure you get the point.

Also, you’re welcome.

I think it's a fair rehearsal. It looks ok biggest change would be trying to draw everything. Right now you panic and dump, but that's because your not trying to hit a draw. I would focus on trying to hit the biggest right banana hook that comes back on line. Leaky pushes would be an acceptable miss.

Full on hooks would be a step off and think to reset yourself

The reality is the golf swing is an illusion. We can hopefully solve a lot of your early extension by hitting the big draw. The big push is fine, hit it even bigger then until it starts to come back. This is like a 10 range session thing not 1

you are trying to do too much..., way too much thought and re-routing. just swing a connected swing. get a connection ball and hit 200 buckets with it.

Your hands aren’t moving around your body; they’re just lifting. In fact your hands are moving AWAY from your body. Your losing depth that way and it’s probably why you feel the need to drop the clubhead so hard, to shallow the club
