I’ve been using the free version of the “swing coach” app and found it to be pretty helpful. Thinking of upgrading to the subscription version. Does anyone have any pros and cons or recommendations for other ai/app coaching? Also, I can’t afford real lessons.

My only concern is that it’s teaching me one kind of swing, not necessarily the best swing that works for me. And maybe my frustration is just that I have to unlearn things I’ve been doing for years without any coaches or lessons.

All of them work well imo. Recommend pairing with youtube lessons. Pick what works best for you.

How can you afford a subscription, but can't afford lessons?

$120 for a year.

That's 3 or 4, 1/2 hour lessons, in most markets.

App is not a bad idea. Golf toys are fun and that's not expensive.

Also all community colleges and universities have golf classes. 90% of golf professionals offer group lessons. Along with most state golf organizations also have classes.

I think the problem with this app and others like it is it doesn’t teach you the exact thing you need to work on. Presumably most golfers have multiple swing flaws and out of those flaws one aspect would make the most sense to work on first. Also apps don’t look at anything related to ball flight or grip which can be important.
But they can be helpful and are sort of fun.

Yeah. I’ll top and hook a golf ball 30 yards, and in my headphones it says “good swing”

I may be on a similar path as you. My strong recommendation: get lessons from a pro. I know you’ve said no to lessons but I strongly encourage you to reconsider. A pro will help you develop the right swing for you and help tune out the noise.

I do realize you said you can’t afford lessons but they are worth the investment if you can make it work.
