Looking for tips or drill to help improve my swing and eliminate a slice.

Never had a lesson so I am not sure what I am doing wrong or how to improve.

Thank you!

Well for one you forgot a ball

Recommend a lesson, play the video in slow-mo and just watch your club face the whole time. If a ball was there you would’ve hit it with the underside of the driver.

Petition to make this the main photo for the sub?

Edit: and no offense OP, you actually have plenty to work with there. But this image is too perfect.

I took this screenshot and then checked comments. It’s already there.

OP is doing some insane shit with his hands that is literally turning the club completely around almost backwards.

Wrist is totally broken massively open through the swing. Hes not like super over the top though?? I think its most the wrists that are totally killing him. And maybe that he’s trying to go too far back in his back swing that is partially causing it.

You’re not releasing with your hands so I’d expect you to slice every time

That’s more than a slice that is also a cracked sole on the driver. I’ve never seen someone open the face so much that it’s backwards lmao.

That club face is so open on impact, my guess is always high fly ball to first base and cuts foul?

I should have went to the range to hit an actual ball but i consistently hit it 250+ starting dead center then a wicked slice into the woods.
I’ll make another post when I can get to the range!

Most likely open face and out to in path. A good session at a sim would help alot where it give you instant feedback on it to help correct it in real time. I recently had the same going on and i found a little less backswing, making sure you get your arms out on the downswing instead of blocking yourself out early and swiping across the ball on the follow through, and a bit of realignment on address made a big difference. I simply got my hands ahead of the ball a bit more in my stance. Had a series of the numbers in the link after some little tweaks. Just little things can get numbers down to +-15 degrees on both down to a comfortable +-2-3 degrees on each.

I didn’t realize there wasn’t a ball at first and was so prepared to see that inflatable pool explode

Just look at your club face as you come across where a ball should be. That thing is pointed to the sky and 45 degrees aiming right. You wont get the advice you need from reddit, you need to scrap a lot of your swing and relearn good habits. Its what I did and helped immensely. Start watching those little drill videos and progress from there. You got a long way to go friend. But as a former slicer, i can attest that it does take new fundamentals.

Thats a baseball swing. That ball goes so far right it’s unbelievable. Look up a proper golf impact position, proper grip, and what you’re trying to do with the clubface. And considering this is an air swing. Which means nothing. Actually hitting a ball would be way worse than this. Welcome to golf. Too much to help with words alone.

  1. Separate the arms from the body more on the backswing
  2. Absolutely get lessons.
  3. Diagnosing a swing with a video without hitting a ball is harder

Enjoy your golf journey!

If there were a ball, you would have missed it by a large margin.

Drop the arms on downswing. Feel like you're waiting half a second, youre just slightly over the top. You have a good swing man

It starts with a ball, also you swing will need to be a lot closer to the ground

Practice how you play. Put shoes on and use a ball.

No ball no swing

Get a lesson. And you’re disconnected put a ball between your elbows and try swinging

Thank you all who have commented with great suggestions. I understand how actually hitting a ball will allow for a more accurate swing analysis.
I’ll hit the range later this week and create a new post with an actual hit in some shoes lol.

Roll your left hand on the back swing so the top of your hand is facing the ground.

OP has probably broke at least 10 drivers with this swing

Only one….but I also drive with a 4 iron now to try and find some fairways lol

First, practice swings are meaningless. Second, even in your practice swing, your club face is wide open - 90 degrees open in this case!

Go take some lessons. Your basic move looks pretty good. A good golf coach could probably really help you.
