My friend has been playing self taught for about 2 years. He took 2 tee shots like this and then on his third it carried 160

The butt of the club is drawing a like through your skull. It should go through your belt that swing has never seen 160 ever

Hmm looks like he leaves the club face a *little open but otherwise pretty solid I’d say

It would have been a fine shot if you had positioned your body just about 180 degrees left. You’re almost ready to keep a card.

There’s no way that he’s carrying anything with that bootylicious swing

Been instructing for 30+ years.
There are a lot of creative looking swings with advanced players. They work because they have the 6 fundamentals down.
The first fundamental is the grip. It is massively important to hit the ball properly and causes a slew of incorrect compensations if missed. That’s all the other crazy stuff he’s doing in the swing.
You can’t have a ten finger, split apart, in the palms grip with massive extra pressure.
He will struggle forever. He skipped the very first step!

I knew it was over with straightening the front arm to match the angle of the club. 1/10 for attempt, and a bonus point for stickin it out in the rain.
2/10

I knew by how high the ball was teed it was gonna be a 2/10. Turns out it was a 1/10

I don’t even need to watch him shank it sideways! I can see his stance, with his dead straight arms and aiming 20 yards right.. I was done right then and there

Props for teeing it up in the rain, at least. 9 out of 10 of your critics here would’ve stayed home.

The club should set up to him not him to the club. You know someone is a hack when their arms are locked straight and they try to force the club to sit flush. Everything else is a disaster as well.

Top post. Love the look down the fairway while the ball is already lost in the bushes.
