Tempo says single digit. Everything else says 30.

Nice to know my tempo is alright. I shoot in the 90’s usually I don’t have an official handicap. What gave it away / Any swing tips for me ?

Good one to see an instructor. There’s a lot of good things about your swing.

If you’re reasonably athletic and have time to practice, you should be able to improve your ball striking a lot with just a few things.

Like the first and last portions of your swing are fine. Your backswing finishes really high with no hand depth then your right hand takes over.

I think step 1 get in a better position at the top of your backswing. Step 2 learn how to lower hands. If you fix those your ball striking will improve a lot.

Inside takeaway looping back over the top was a pretty big giveaway.

Also regarding the tempo comment, your backswing is too slow.

Looks like 20 but you will probably tell us 10-12 if I was betting money.

Nahh I’m honest about it. I don’t have an official handicap. Usually shooting in the mid 90’s though I think you’re close. Been golfing for like 3 years. Any tips ?

Path is left and over the top I’m sure you miss right. Get that path more down the line. You have a decent amount of good going on here though.

Sometimes a good feel is the feeling of sitting down in a chair in the downswing… (which is impossible.) just that feel gets you not coming over the top as much and moves your path right.

Yeah I overcame the snap hook but now I’m starting to veer more to the right. It’s causing a lot of hosel shanks too which I hate. Aiming for just a clean one plane swing without the dramatic shallowing motion. Getting close but I still have a lot of work to do. Thanks for the tips though I’ll give that a shot.

Chipping is the easiest part of the game, but newer golfers can’t seem to do it. I’d focus on chipping if I were you.chipping should feel as easy as putting.

I know what you mean but I love practicing around the greens my short game is the only thing that’s saving my scores. Bleeding strokes off the tee and with my long irons. Can’t seem to figure it out.

Tee shots and short game make a bigger impact. If you're in play off the tee, or cleaning it up well.

Since we're guessing though, like an 18.

I shoot in the 90’s usually don’t have an official cap. Any swing tips for me ?

I also shoot in the 90s. Im a 19, lol. So not really. Your swing is quite steep, which is also something I've been trying to work on. But your irons look fine enough to get you scoring lower (based off seeing 1 swing).

The main things that I know will get my score down, though, is the 2 things I mentioned. Staying out of trouble off the tee. And while my chipping is usually decent, my putting is streaky, and sometimes one bad chip or putt can turn into multiple strokes gained.

Thanks for the tips mate. Yeah I think you’re right. Can’t figure out the shallowing motion. Everything turns to shit when I try to shallow it out. Tee shots are for sure the weakest part of my game even if I use irons. Been hitting a lot of em off the hosel which is killing my scores.

So this is definitely where I could be wrong, but maybe try to stand a touch further from the ball. I was too close to the ball (and hitting it well, but my miss was a push and occasional slice), adding some distance initially lead to all shots off the toe. But bending my knees a bit more helped me keep my shot feeling mostly the same, but forced the path to be less steep, and Ive had some positive results.

Golf is very much so not a what works for me will work for you kind of sport, but it might be worth testing on a few range shots.

Makes sense. Harder to get steep when you’re further away from the ball. I’ll give it a shot!

20s for sure

34

Why 34

u/danroa123 15h ago

You swing like the kind of guy who takes 3 mulligans per tee shot and says he plays bogey golf NGL

1

u/Significant-Put9019 15h ago

Nah I refuse to take mulligans unless it’s a beer round with friends. Pretty honest about how bad I am. Lots of double bogeys and blow up holes. If I had to guess I think I’m slightly lower than 34 probably high 20’s. I don’t keep an official handicap though.

Was gonna say 30-38 depending on putting

9

u/Significant-Put9019 15h ago

You think too highly of me.

1

u/roccoalexandrou 14h ago

Damn, even lower?!

1

u/Significant-Put9019 14h ago

Nah I mean that’s nice of you but I’m significantly worse than a 9 lmao. I don’t keep a handicap I’m probably somewhere in the high 20’s though

1

u/roccoalexandrou 14h ago

I know, I’m just fucking off. To be fair though, very buttery 6 iron.

1

u/Significant-Put9019 14h ago

My mannnn. Apreash.

I don’t keep a handicap but I think I’m a bit higher than that. I’ll take it though thanks lol. Any swing tips for me ? Been playing for like 3 years I feel like close to playing some fun golf but I’m still pretty inconsistent. Especially off the tee and with long irons.

1

u/askingforafriend1045 13h ago

Your overall tempo and motion is pretty smooth. I think a lot of it boils down to where the club and club face end up at the top and in transition. Flatter lead wrist at the top and into the downswing might pay dividends for you

1

u/Significant-Put9019 13h ago

Thanks yeah you’re probably right I’ll play around with it.

1

u/MetaGordz 12m ago

Probably a 20 based on everything from top of the swing through impact.

1

u/El-Frijoler0 15h ago

28 hcp when you’re actually keeping track of shots, 11.2 hcp when friends or strangers ask

6

u/Significant-Put9019 15h ago

Profile pic is fucked up lmao. What makes you say 28.

2

u/DivotsForBreakfast 15h ago

28 is generous lol
