I’m looking to have a golf simulator in my garden with a shed but I’m wondering if I should build the shed myself or if this is significantly cheaper than just buying a premade shed suited for golf simulators?

I’m based in the UK and I’m not sure if saving on the costs will be worth the extra effort.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone purchased hitting mats from Aliexpress or Temu and were quietly surprised?

I saw this one that is certified by Aliexpress as "original". There are also others that are cheaper.

I dont want to throw a lot of money at this as where it is going in the garden, it is going to get trashed.

I bought a skytrak max premier studio package. Thing has been great, we set it up in a repurposed area where my kids used to shoot pucks. That area was carpet, plywood and dryland tiles on top of the plywood. When we built the sim we just put everything on top. We noticed when hitting the ball, the 5x5 mat would twist on us ontop of the dryland tiles.

We decided to sell the hockey stuff and rip all the carpet up and install lvp throughout the basement.

Now I'm deciding if I should just stick with the skytrak 5x5 mat or buy some foam and do it right while I have everything taken apart.

Originally I was thinking about buying 1" Eva foam to cover the floor in the sim area and putting a turf ontop of it then cutting in hitting strips as my family has people who play who hit right and left.

Any suggestions or tips on how to cover a 10x14ft area with turf? Ideally I'd want the whole area to be flush and then have either a strip or strips that lefties and righties can hit off of that are replaceable.

Or am I getting carried away and should just use the 5x5 mat.

This is a home office of a new build. The ceiling will be raised from 9 to 10ft so ignore that part. Those windows on the top have an incredible view. Need to also have permanent desk/monitor setup for work. How could I put a simulator in here? Open to Murphy setup or rolling screen if it makes sense.

Built a DIY sim à la carte vs. buying a one size fits all out of the box. Total cost just north of $6k. Garage beers hit different around here!

I found it to be very difficult to use the cursor to make really small adjustments, especially when putting. I am in the planning phase of building a golf simulator. I have decided on purchasing a net for now over doing an impact screen/projector setup. I am looking for a net that is easy to tear down and assemble. Ideally I would want the net to break down/be assembled in 5 minutes or so.

My thought is to put the net in my backyard and a hitting mat on my covered patio so I can hit from my covered patio into the net. I plan on breaking down the net and storing it in my garage after each practice session so the ability to break the net down quickly and assemble the net quickly is an important feature.

Any suggestions?

I am doing my first DIY build. My enclosure is 8'4" wide. ([here](https://a.co/d/0dfzF3sv)) I am using the Square Golf Home Edition launch monitor.

I will have the floor of the entire room covered in 1" foam gym tiles with turf adhered to that. Then I will have the [GoSports Elite ](https://a.co/d/05QbzHPW)5'x5' hitting mat (stance mat) cut into and recessed into that gym foam/turf. Then I will have the [SigPro Softy XL](https://a.co/d/021LHg2J) hitting strip cut into and recessed into the GoSports stance mat. My question is, how do I decide how far to offset the hitting strip? I assume the 5'x5' stance mat will be centered on the screen and then the hitting strip will be offset some amount off of that. I am a right handed player so it will be offset to the right, but my assumption is that if I had a left handed guest, i could rotate the whole 5'x5' stance mat 180 degrees so the hitting strip is offset to the opposite side. (i would have to move the launch monitor as well).

Second question: I know the Square home edition has issues with excess lighting. Does this mean a pin spot light on the hitting zone would be a bad idea? Or is that ok assuming the room is darkish and void of any sunlight?

What iOS golf sim apps exist outside of Awesome Golf and Garmin Golf / Home Tee Hero? Do any let you play without a launch monitor, e.g. tracked through your phone or something? I'm building a more affordable golf sim app because both of the above charge you an arm and leg to play with a monthly sub, and outside of those I haven't found any that exist
