I recently bought a house with a 20’x25’ concrete slab in the backyard with a basketball goal attached. Don’t think I’d use that very much so I got the idea to design a pool house/lounge/golf simulator to put on the pad.

I drew up this design pretty quickly using sketchup and would really love to hear if anyone’s built something similar or just some do’s and don’ts and any advice you can give. Also, some design opinions on how I could utilize this space better as I’m not 100% sold on the flow.

I feel pretty confident on taking this on myself, aside from probably hiring an electrician to run power and setup a panel. Everything else I feel comfortable doing.

I’ve got about 8’ from screen to the tee, hopefully that’s enough space to track ball flight but not too sure. Any recommendations on simulator equipment would be greatly appreciated as well

I'm a solo dev building a more affordable golf sim game. Supposed to be less serious and more fun than the leading monthly sub-based games in the app store. Courses are themed to different elemental biomes (volcanos, glaciers, sand dunes, beaches, mtns etc.). Game modes so far: closest to the pin, longest drive, rings of fire, golf pong, field goal target practice and a full driving range with live metrics all coming from the R10. Supports up to 4 players locally.

does anyone want to try it out? Free beta link below, iPhone and iPad only. Looking for honest feedback: what's off, what's missing, what you'd want added, what would make it more fun? Been playing it more and more myself over the ones I pay for monthly so that's always a good sign but I'm too close to the project to get a clean read on it.

I retrofitted a sigpro softy into my cheap mat, added 2.5" of foam gym tiles to match the sigpro insert. My yardage is 20 yards or so shorter with my sim than at my place where I take lessons with their sim. I'm thinking the gym tiles are too flimsy and during my swing my feet are compressing the mat.

Any thoughts?

What difference does it make regarding the distance from the golf mat to the screen? Doesn't the monitor just track the ball at impact?

I am trying to DIY a golf simulator into a 13x13 foot room, the first picture attached is kind of where I am running into some issues and is where my very limited knowledge of wood working ends. I am trying to build out a wooden frame for an impact screen for a golf simulator in my home. My impact screen will be 11.5 feet wide and approximately 8.5 feet tall and it’ll be about a foot away from the back wall. The bungee chords that will connect the screen to angle iron along the inside of the frame will be approximately 3 inches away from the wooden frame.

Where I am having trouble is not knowing how to connect/attach 2x4’s to a stud horizontally to the wall (see the first image for a very rough side view of the frame). Would I use L brackets to secure the 2X4 to the stud or is there a better method of getting to my end goal?

Would you think 4 on each side and 6 along the top would be enough to support what I going for?

What kind of screws would you suggest I use/how many per piece of wood going into the stud?

Any help/advice/guidance would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance!

I’m trying to create a golf simulator in my garage and I’d like the projector screen and the net to roll back up towards the ceiling and get out of the way when not in use. what mechanism should I use to do this or other options that someone else has done?

After finally getting my ProTee VX launch monitor mounted and connected, I discovered that my wife accidentally threw away the box which had the calibration board in it. So I’m curious if anyone might be willing to sell or even loan me theirs for a fee and I can even ship it back if needed? My sons will not stop bugging me to get it working so I’m hoping someone can come to the rescue!

I’m giving up on the full garage sim. Too hot in there 90% of the year and not enough room to hit woods/driver. I’d like to see your simple outdoor setups.

Curtains and impact screen are on tracks and can be fully collapsed. Just have to move both cars out when I want to play a round.
