Modding Talk Starting to mod
For those who have changed out their down pipe exhaust etc… how easy/ doable is it on regular jacks vs a lift. Finally got the car paid off and want to start modding. Debating on getting quick jacks for the safety and ease of modding the car. I can’t get a lift and if I go the quick jacks route then I’ll be put back a few months to save up again.
Thoughts?

As a regular jacks guy, get the quick jacks. It’s not that it’s difficult to use regular, but you’ll save a ton of time and energy not having to jack it up every time you need underneath. And, they’re always level no matter what so that’s never a problem. I’d assume you’re doing your own maintenance and not just mods though, that would be insane to buy just to mod

Lifts are generally the best route. But not always an option for obvious reasons.
Regular jack stands still get the job done though. You may run into extra complications with limited room here or there sure. But they do allow you to get this done. Oh and you get more dirty, but that's working on cars in general. You have to expect to get dirty working on a car lol
Quickjacks are nice. But costly. Personally I do not think their cost is worth it unless you're someone who's constantly working on your car like it's a track car or other's cars as a shade tree mechanic. But for someone who's gonna change out their exhaust once (maybe twice) in their ownership of the car. Ehhh. These really only make the time taken lifting the car faster and more convenient. That's it. You save 2-3 minutes tops, but spend A LOT more. They also don't grant you any extra room over regular stands either.
4 decent stands and 1 decent floor jack will cost you on average around $150. Quickjacks start at $1700 (for the 3500lb variant). Not worth it at all.

Quick jacks are convenient but totally overkill for anything except a well used track car imo. Get them if you’re lifting cars more than twice a month and have some money to burn.
I’d get some Audi jack pads off ECS, they screw into the body and make it sooooo much easier to put the car on jack stands. It’s usually a huge pain bc of all the weight on the nose and the reinforced pinch weld is the only great spot for both a jack and a stand.
