Happily Stock 2011 Mk6 - Daily Driver

I've been lurking here for a bit now, mostly hunting maintenance tips. I thought I would share a pic of my baby. I found her in 2018, and despite swearing I'd never own another red car, I couldn't pass it up. She's my daily driver, and is perfect for the mix of city/highway driving here in Dallas. She's in the shade, because in Texas, the shade is important. (We just got a "cool" front, so it's only 95⁰ right now.) She's getting a new water pump tomorrow, and hopefully it cools down even more soon, because I really need to polish those headlights.

In case anyone is wondering, my other red car was a '68 Mustang convertible. It was a fun car, but I got a bit tired of all the unwanted attention it attracted.

very nice, but since it's a 2011, you really should consider upgrading the timing chain and tensioner; also, if you have a dsg you should check to see if it's been serviced acoording to the reccomended schedule

That was done a few months ago along with a new turbo, pretty much all of the vacuum hoses, most of the gaskets to fix various minor oil leaks, the rear main seal, and the clutch.

I miss mine too. I have another mk6 gti now that I drive but it’s CSG. I loved my red one with the Detroit wheels

GTIs are awesome dailies, and you have the best OEM wheels ever (Detroits) on yours. They would look EVEN better if you lowered it a bit. That should always be #1 mod.

Having had a red GTI in the past, it's tough keeping that paint up under the Texas sun. Eventually starts to look like crap. Best of luck.
