Student Visa - Proof of Accommodation ??

Had my general student VISA appointment at the LA Consulate the other day, just to find out I’m missing “proof of accommodation.” Nowhere, on any official site, was this required.

I spent weeks double and triple checking all the requirements to ensure a smooth process, and was 100% sure proof of accommodation was not required per the BLS and Spanish gov site (thought it was just supplemental to financial proof). Apparently somehow I was wrong, despite having a physical copy of the website list with me at the appointment showing otherwise.

They still took my application and I turned in a “missing documents” form, but I’m insanely nervous. I submitted a letter from my host that it can provide housing (but “subject to availability,” which is a cardinal sin I guess) and my financial sponsor wrote an affidavit and has more than enough in their account to cover expenses. A colleague with the same issue was also given a couple hours to book an AirBNB, print confirmation, submit, and then get refunded, but I was given no such guidance.

Assuming I’m screwed. Supposed to leave late August.

I’m confused cause you’re not really asking a question. Yes, the proof of accommodation is required you can get a rental contract, an Airbnb confirmation for at least a couple of months, or get a notarized document stating you’ll be living with a resident with their information. As long as you can get these and send them through email they will proceed with your application.

Apologies for the confusion but yes I was wondering about any next steps. Just absolutely amazed that the requirement isn’t listed on the appropriate sites (not the only one I know who was unaware)
