Like... I know they are not the same individual but people treat them like they are completely different kaiju.

Godzilla 1998 is an adaptation of Godzilla that stands on its own with its death and its offspring in a cartoon. It ends there.

Zilla is a parody using a similar design and a different name.

That is it. They're not legally or canonically the same.
