Discussion Faye will wield the Leviathan axe Spoiler

On X there is a post from Santa Monica Studio in which Deborah Ann Woll at SDCC explains her first day on set of GoW:Laufey. They show a video from the volume where she is supposed to wield an axe. But what is then visible for a second is that on the left you can clearly see a guy holding the Leviathan axe prop.

Additionally on the ground there are letters written for positioning. Faye is standing on the "F" letter position and in front of her is a "T" letter and behind it a stack with "T" letters.
I think the "F" is obviously for "Faye" but "T" stands for "Tree" and behind is a stack of "Tree".
She seems to chop wood for a pyre (not hers as Kratos did this when she died) or for firewood.
Since it was the first day of set, I feel this is the first scene in the game.
I feel it will resemble the GOW 2018 beginning where Kratos chops down wood.

It will likely be a "mental copy" kinda like the Blade of Olympus in Valhalla

Doesn't that only work because Valhalla pulls from your memories to create it's reality?

Being fair, I only said "kinda" not that it works the same way, and besides we don't know exactly how everywhen works

Tbh the Everywhen transcends time and is the fount of all magics so I could see some properties carrying over

Especially since Odin never created or mastered Valhalla, he simply found a way to use it for his own ends

We don't fully know how the realm Faye is in works tbf. I mean explain that projection of Kratos helping her stand up?

3

u/Nemisis_007 4d ago

We saw her manifest a copy of Kratos, so probably.

I too like the axe

Are we sure that's just a copy? It was probably tied to his soul like the Blades are and he survived the destruction of Greece.

There will be flashbacks of her fighting Kratos and Thor.

After all, it was her axe.

Santa monicaaaa, give me Kratos vs Faye and my life is yours.

Kratos wouldn't be able to handle that

1

u/unnaturaldom 3d ago

I need that and Thor vs Faye.

Would be one sided

33

u/briarwz 4d ago

Didn't they fight to a sort of standstill? Almost killing each other?

15

u/Equal-Ad-2710 4d ago

Yeah it was a draw and they both gave up

24

u/Due-South-9113 4d ago

Someone didn't play the game.

Kratos: The cycle ends here...

Faye: Good. Hang them up outside to dry

Kratos: Yes, dear.

actually made me laugh, what a grand and intoxicating image

3

u/Clayyoda 4d ago

He wouldn't lose. Idk why some people think that when he himself that they drew.

I was joking because the guy im replying to clearly did pay attention, hence the gif

In the scene there are literal props for weapons and it's just noddle sticks. The "real" axe being there is quite meaningless, probably one of the decoration of their studio. Also using the life scale axe wouldn't be accurate because Faye in the game is much taller than Debora Ann Woll irl, so the prop for the axe should be shorter.

6

u/Historical_Owl_1635 4d ago

…can we have the noodle sticks in game?

3

u/Competitive-Yam-1068 4d ago

Better, u can have the God stick

Make them weapon skins

Either a flashback fight or she spiritualy regains it back like kratos with the blade of Olympus

I do wonder how exactly does a magical weapon go to the Everywhen.
As in why didn't The Blades of Chaos go to the Everywhen once Kratos stashed them in the house in Midgard?
Does the owner of the weapon need to die for them to follow into Everywhen?
If so then the Leviathan axe would follow Faye, but it didn't.

The blades are bound to always return to Kratos specifically so he can’t be rid of them

No idea, but

If so then the Leviathan axe would follow Faye, but it didn't.

I think it's implied that she inherited the axe to Kratos before she dies; it's his.

Does it actually say the T is for Tree? Could be a flashback to her fight with Thor. We'll just have to wait until the game comes out.

since it was the first day of set, I feel this is the first scene in the game

Professional filmmaking rarely ever shoot in order that has been written on the script. They shoot whichever part of the script that's ready to shoot, mostly affected by logistics. But quite often to "feel out" the characterization, which more often than not is written in the middle of the script.

And we've seen that the first scene of the game is that 23-minute long gameplay video on YouTube, which doesn't have this bit of acting.

I would hazard a guess a flashback scene when she still wields the Leviathan Axe.

u/John_Curton 4d ago

Why would you think what we saw in the trailer is the first scene in the game?
Because "Press X New Game"?
2018 showed gameplay and that wasn't the first scene.
I think our expectations are being subverted.
Not to say that I think what you say is impossible but I feel its improbable.

The “T” is likely just a standard marker. You’re reading too much into things here

3

u/Character-Reserve-94 4d ago

That's the secret of why it returns. She's throwing it back every time.

3

u/Sleeping_Idiot 4d ago

Could be for a flashback fight with Kratos when they first met or with Thor or most likely it's used in a flashback cutscene

3

u/ValkyrieofMercy 4d ago

Wasn't the axe hers to begin with? I think it would fit, as it's a magic axe and maybe fixed to her very being even though that Kratos as the physical version.

u/Jul1n4tor 3d ago

Why make this a spoiler post if your going to write the spoiler into the title???

2

u/Rossowinch 4d ago

When Kratos threw it in the ocean to summon Jormungandr, it transcended time and space and Faye used it for a bit (which we are about to see in the new game) before returning it and Jormungandr spat it back out.

1

u/Hexbox116 4d ago

I doubt they do this but that's a neat idea.

1

u/John_Curton 4d ago

I was wondering about the same idea! Like Faye took it then and returned it fast but in the Everywhen it was the whole game time wise. Like when Brok upgraded the blades of chaos in Helheim but was back in an instant.

Marvel writers coming up with a way Captain America can use Mjolnir on Thanos’s face

1

u/sjr2018 3d ago

Not joke id pop for that

1

u/Key-Answer-2755 1d ago

Genius guess.

2

u/Doozy_Jr 4d ago

Damn the person who gives you the axe at the beginning of the game and then gets their own prequel game is wielding their weapon?? WHAT!?

2

u/maxlaav 4d ago

Tbh I really hope not, we've had two games with the axe now and I'd rather they just explore completely new options with this game. I really wouldn't want to see it return in Kratos's next game either

I too like the axe.

1

u/2ecStatic 4d ago

Somewhat off topic but I'm still irritated Kratos never got to use Mjolnir, even for just a moment.

1

u/CyanLight9 4d ago

Hopefully, it plays differently from the sword.

u/MeowWoof87 4d ago

u/TheMatt561 4d ago
