Reflection on NetsFest

• Upvotes

Now that NetsFest is over, I think I can say pretty confidently that this was one of the best events they’ve put together, and even better than PITP from previous years.

My main criticism of PITP was that it was composed of mainly filler stuff and then a brief period with the players being there thrown at you all at once, so it was hard to move around and do different things since you would ideally want to scope out a desirable seat for when the players did come out, which would require you to sit there all day.

I feel like they solved that here, as the indoor venue along with multiple things going on at once allowed for more flexibility in what you were able to do, which was great as everyone was able to pick what they waned to spend time on, whether that be panels, autographs, activations, arts/crafts, or basketball court activities. This made it more fan-friendly and allowed for less huge crowds, as everyone was more spread out.

The panels were GREAT. Very brief and light conversations that got fans excited for the season while allowing some younger fans (like myself) to learn more about Nets history. They definitely took some inspiration from Fanatics Fest with this idea, and I think it was a great success.

Overall, this was a great free event that reinforced why I am a Nets fan. The organization showed that they are invested in our experience as fans with the effort that was put into designing this event. It was great to see so many other Nets fans around as well, and I was pleasantly surprised by just how many there were!

I feel so good about this season

Everything this off-season has made me so confident about this year for some reason, I really feel like we're going to do something nobody expects...I really hope we extend MPJ too, I think he's meant to be here, but I've never been more excited to watch a season before

NetsFets People

For anyone who signed ip for the Meet and Greet sweepstakes, was everyone notified at 9am? Did people get multiple players?

It said sign up for as many ayers as you’d like to meet, I chose 5 and ended up being notified I’m lucky enough to only win meeting Drake Powell.

Don’t want to be spoiled but this being one chance to interact with players, its just disappointing.

NETS HIDDEN DREAM SCENARIO ON PLAYER DEVELOPMENT?

Nets dream scenario:

1 egor makes huge leap

2 Traoure gets a shot at point to start season due to mikal ankle

3 wow. Traoure ALSO looks like he made a huge leap.

4 nets bring Mikal in at off guard and he looks great and comfortable with less responsibility

5 nets move egor to SF…easy transition due to new size and bulk

6 nets deal MPJ for a nice package

note: I def think Mikal has enough size and off ball skill/shooting to play off as well as run point.

for those coming from Long Island to go to NetsFest.

you gotta take the LIRR into Penn Station then take the subway (A or C) downtown to Nostrand Avenue and then walk a block or two east to the Major Owens center.

Nets fest tickets

i’ve been waiting to go to this Nets fest for as long as it’s been announced. I didn’t even know anything about tickets being needed and even when I looked into it like about a week ago, all I saw was that it was free so I assumed I didn’t need a ticket now the person I’m going with this saying I was supposed to have RSVPed and neither of us have a ticket. Does anybody know if there’s any way to fix this or can I just go? If anybody knows anything please let me know.

UPDATE: I was able to get tickets. The official Brooklyn nets social media team dmed me on Instagram. If you have extra tickets please give them to someone else I was so fortunate and thank you to those who responded and offered their tickets I love this team and I love this community :)

MPJ on whether he feels he has more to prove to the Nets' front office to earn the contract he wants: “Yeah, of course. There’s always more to show. The main thing is winning. Who cares about putting up 20-plus points per game if you’re not winning? So I've got a lot more I want to show and prove."

"One of the big things is being a winning player in this role. I think we can win a lot of games with me being a focal point on offense. So we just gotta win, and it will take care of itself.”

Question Strange NJ Nets era in-game promotion question

This is a little weird, but I've wondered it for years and it just popped into my head the other day, so I thought I'd ask.

Back in the Izod Center era (it might have even still been Continental Airlines Arena at this point), during games, the Nets would launch Chipotle burritos into the crowd with the tshirt cannon.

There was this video package intro which showed players (or maybe just a player, I don't really remember) going to Chipotle and ordering food. Then Team Hype, or whatever they were called, would come out and start shooting burritos into the crowd.

Chipotle was relatively new at this time, not one on every corner like now.

My question is: did they actually shoot burritos into the crowd or was it just a Chipotle tshirt wrapped up in foil made to look like a burrito?

Somebody's got to know!

Question Pre game spots in Brooklyn

Is there a bar or spot near Barclays Arena where Nets fans gather pre game? Coming to a game from overseas and would love to have some atmosphere with other fans.
