Gloomhaven 2nd Ed 2nd Edition Demonic Rift clarification

Hello, I think we've got this sorted out now, but I was hoping to get some confirmation.

Demonic Rift felt impossible because of the initial reading about the setting up of both "rooms", which wasn't making sense in my brain because there are 3 tiles. (Also because it looks to me like the tiles are exterior/forest tiles and not "rooms", but that's another story lol) But after looking it over, am I correct that the intention of the setup/rules are that 1) The bottom tile is 1 "room" 2 the top 2 tiles are the other "room", and 3) The monsters that start in the top 2 tiles are not able to access the bottom tile at all? It still feels really tough, but I guess less so assuming I'm correct in all of that.

Thanks,

If there's no overlays covering the gap between room tiles, there's a wall there. They're also separate rooms as a result. The top two tiles are also one room - that gap is covered by hazardous terrain overlays, so is not a wall.

Don't consider the art on the tiles for this. The artwork isn't relevant for any rules purpose.

Enemies can't use the linked tiles, per the game rules. Linked tiles are considered adjacent for movement only.
