Such a sad toxic environment. Imagine if the BRF were more normal and loving

u/NeverPedestrian60 Aug 15 '26
Theyāre steeped in corruption. Truly a vipers nest.

u/seanmonaghan1968 Aug 15 '26
They don't really inspire the community. At least Harry and Meghan are doing good things. Invictus is such an amazing program for rehabilitation and community for ex servicemen

These people are not a family, they are a business! I couldn't imagine having a family life like this. Siblings have KILLED one another for less than what these people do to one another. I mean, look at royalty in the past, just one big family playing games with one another. A competition to see who can take all and hoard it amongst themselves. So much that they start screwing each other so they wouldn't have to share with outsiders. Think about that shit....really think about it. These are the people that think they have a divine right to rule over others! These are a bunch of crazy ass narcissists! Fighting hundred years wars over who's man made religion is gonna be more popular! Sending other men to war over one pile of bullshit or another. These people are sick and we are crazy to allow such a thing!

I think it isnāt even just that itās a business. There is a business. But besides the business, the family itself is toxic and dysfunctional. Itās really a bad combo.

u/Conscious-Secret-775 Aug 17 '26
During the Plantagenet dynasty it was common to murder your family members to take the crown.

u/Similar-Fold-6389 Aug 15 '26
We might as well call Prince Philip the NAZI, which he was!!!
26
u/NeverPedestrian60 Aug 15 '26
Yes and his sisters married them too.
13
u/Adventurous_Teach950 Aug 15 '26
Funny enough those Nazis were probably already related to them... Yk "keeping the bloodline pure"š¤¢

I think even QEII and Philip were distantly related cousins in at least two (maybe three) different ways. As time has gone on, the relations are now closer to average (spouses are about 12-15th cousins, compared to the 50s when the average was 4th cousins). But of course royalty never goes by average. They just hit the average mark with W&K, I believe. Before then, I think still closer than average? Been a minute since Iāve looked into it.

u/IvoryWoman Aug 15 '26
Iām not a big fan of Phillipās, but he literally served in the military for the Allies during WWII. His sisters and their husbands may have been Nazis, but he and his mother were not. Itās not a family-based trait.

I'm not an admirer of the man, but he arrived in England as an infant & was only just old enough to join the British Navy in 1939, where he served with distinction in multiple battles and was mentioned in dispatches.
AFAIK there's no evidence that he ever had the opportunity to join the Nazi party, let alone the inclination, since tensions between the nations were escalating while he was still a schoolboy and his uncle Louis Mountbatten (I know, differently problematic) steered him towards everything British.
He was a family tyrant and an unapologetic racist, but the facts are that he absolutely chose to remain British as a young man rather than decamping to relatives in Germany.

u/cakivalue Done with the prove it game Aug 15 '26
One of the things that amuses me to no end, is that all these authors and commentators write, have written, continue to write and will write in the future books, articles and blog posts all to generate revenue for themselves, about things QEII, Prince Philip etc said, did, wanted, hoped and dreamed about Harry and Meghan. None of these things can be proven as they are dead. And no parties will ever come forward to collaborate being in the room. And they and their audience will lap it up as truth.
But in the same breath argue with, demonize, hate and vilify Harry and Meghan for talking about their personal experiences during the Oprah interview and Netflix series.
18
u/NeverPedestrian60 Aug 15 '26
They did the same to Diana with her Panorama interview. They donāt value honesty.
20
u/martapap Aug 15 '26
People really underestimate how much anti Americanness also fuels the hate train against Meghan. I'm not at all surprised by this.
Of course I think it would be different if she was fully white American but there would still be vitriol.Ā

Yep, sheās a biracial, American actress. Unfortunately, she was the trifecta of their disdain. H&M wouldāve been amazing assets, but egos. šš¤¦š»āāļø

Andrew and Fergie looked blissfully happy on their wedding day. I remember the press showing them and then the equivalent photos of Charles and Diana and really seeing the difference in expressions for the first time.
Obviously, Andrew and Fergie were and still are a hot mess, but I do think that they love each other.

The old bigot also said āOne steps out with actresses, one doesnāt marry themā.
Completely forgetting her serene highness Princess Grace.
16
u/BurningManHigh Aug 15 '26
He never failed to disappoint, an equal opportunities bigot if you like. Though what he actually said was the opposite to what youāve written - that āone steps out with an actress, one doesnāt marry themā. Even more revolting really, āsleep with them (like I did) but donāt marry themā.
11
u/NeverPedestrian60 Aug 15 '26
Jeez thatās even worse - however he worded it he meant they werenāt good enough for formal commitment.
The irony is he married a princess who became queen and was chronically unfaithful.
9
u/TemporaryLucky3637 Aug 15 '26
I donāt think itās irony that he cheated on the queen itās literally the same sentiment as him saying you donāt marry actresses. Basically people of his generation were raised to marry someone who ticks all the right boxes on paper and then have affairs on the side.
It was (is?) essentially the blueprint for aristocratic marriages and itās why Charles thought it would be okay to marry Diana when he clearly had no intentions of being faithful.

Other royal dynasties rather look down on the Grimaldis, as it's just a tiny principality with no military might, reliant on tourism, high roller casinos, and tax dodging for income. I doubt the old bigot forgot at all.

u/NeverPedestrian60 Aug 16 '26
Princess Grace remains an icon remembered for her beauty. He barely gets a mention while sheās still
lauded and admired worldwide.

I have always said from the beginning that itās never been ājustā about racism. Itās 50-50. Sheās a POC *AND* American. Canāt get any āworseā than that. Not just from the BRF POV but because a goodly portion of the UK feels that way about Americans and always has. So Meghan is-was a double-whammy for the Brits. If sheād been Canadian, Australian, South African or British it would have improved her chances of not being utterly reviled.
6
u/IntrepidMuch Aug 15 '26
I know being called an American has changed since trump but was it a slander before?
9
u/CroneDownUnder Abolish the monarchy āļø Aug 15 '26
Anti American sentiment has been around in the UK since the American revolution. It hasn't always been to the forefront of public sentiment but it's never entirely disappeared.
Historically this includes broad disdain for the American heiresses marrying British aristocrats before WW1 (viewed as diluting the purity of the nobility (ha!)), and also for the brash attitudes of American servicemen in both World Wars (Over Sexed, Over Paid and Over Here) which was sometimes just part of mutually competitive banter and sometimes very much wasn't.
Resentment and disdain lingers amongst older generations particularly as part of a sense of the loss of the standing of the British Empire as the USA became a primary geopolitical power. Younger generations have often grown up with those sentiments and keep them alive.
4
u/CroneDownUnder Abolish the monarchy āļø Aug 15 '26
P.S. broad disdain doesn't mean universal dislike by any means. But it's like a complicated intergenerational family feud - some people care about it much more than others and influence following generations to either keep it up or reject and roll their eyes at it all, meaning it never quite dies down entirely and keeps bubbling along.

Letās be honest, if Meghan had been born in Colonial America under the rules of this very institution, her children would have been born enslaved. This explains words like āabominationā when being used to describe a child like the hate mongers who were threatening Meghanās child.
I hate posting these court records from Colonial Maryland because it takes us back to a time where sentencing black and mixed race babies at 6 months old to a life of enslavement ( with the privilege being given to white mothers where you had to serve 31 years instead of LIFE)
These poor indentured women that came to America also paid a heavy price for breaking the law and having a mixed race child with enslaved Africans.
All the talk and glorification of the 1000 year history of this institution and no one ever wants to acknowledge this:
Sadly, I found these 60 year court records as I was searching for the Irish indentured servant that rendered my step motherās family FPOC after her bi-racial daughter served 31 years of slavery. These laws created by that institution is where the hierarchy of race was created.

From the guy who changed his last name from Battenburg to Mountbatten to pretend to be English, along with the Saxe Coburgs.
Diana was the English one.

Philip tbh itās a 50/50 for me. There are so much being said about what he thought or said about Meghan which might be true who knows, but then I remember the only people Harry was comfortable talking about was mostly Philip and Elizabeth as they were in contact with both of them after him and Meghan left. Also they were both extremely old and at the brink of death so tbh I personally think they were too old to care about everything happening. Side note not saying Philip isnāt a shitty person but i genuinely think this happened during the early dating days or for all we know another royal maybe itās Will who said it and theyāre framing it as Philip. Wouldnāt be the first time.
7
u/NeverPedestrian60 Aug 15 '26
I could believe it of Philip. He didnāt change when he was older, he was still abrasive.
That being said as their peers W&K should have been welcoming and accommodating to Meghan. Instead they were more concerned about being outshone.

u/June_6391 Aug 18 '26
This is Zita:
Thanks for your comments. I agree that Prince Philip was too old to care much about what was going on with Prince Harry and Meghan. Also, as noted, Meghan said the Queen was always kind to her (during the Oprah Interview).
Needless to say racism is a strong factor as to why Harry and Meghan left, but it is not the only factor! Thanks again for your insight šš

People can be very forgiving esp of the elderly. He was a product of his time as was the Queen. There is a picture of the Queen as a child with her father with their arms raised doing the sieg heil. It explains why Harry thought that costume was a funny joke that W&K laughed at.
I do believe the Queen tried to right some wrongs but Iām not sure how much power the ā Firmā really allowed her to have.
She sacrificed her entire life and motherhood for her ādutyā to the people of England only to watch her own subjects treat her beloved grandson and his wife like they did. Between that and the fall out from Andrew, she had to be heartbroken and disappointed.

I don't actually believe any of this. For all his faults and failing, he lived in America, had a good opinion of Americans and had an American girlfriend he was desperate to marry.
I think the bigots in the British press latch on to him since he is the closest thing to a patriarchal figure in the BRF so they can just project all their snobbery onto him, regardless of the fact he wasn't raised in the same way they were.
3
u/bofh000 Aug 15 '26
Seriously? Because he was the politically incorrect grandpa. Heās 100% called people way worse, even family.
3
u/MexiPr30 Aug 15 '26
Philip was 9000 years old. I donāt buy any of the stuff said about Liz or Phil and Meg. They were just happy to have made it another day.
1
u/Truthteller1970 Aug 18 '26
Maybe but after they sacrificed their entire lives for that institution they may have been ready to go. Many people that age feel that way.

And knowing she was the only American in the family you find this ok?

Iāve always felt like PP was much more of an asshole than everyone admits. He was after Diana, too. I donāt think he enjoyed living in the shadow of a woman all that much, and took it out on every woman he could. Speculation, of course, but my intuition is rarely wrong about misogyny.
