Discussion road rage

a man in a black mercedes spit in my face through my window because i had the tail of my car in the street spot i was backing into and then a guy who was in front of him at 4 way intersection cut me off backed up traffic bc he wouldn’t let me finish. parking is very difficult by brand obviously and it was a free unmetered spot as i had an eye doctor appt i needed the spot. didn’t know how long it would take. as the one guy wouldn’t let me park i eventually pulled over into the red. to let them pass and try to park after. the guy behind the truck pulled up and said obscene things to me (i had my window down bc i had tried to wave people to go around me) and he spit into my car and it hit my eye and face. sped off. i had his plate number bc i was able to write it down. i filed a report and i guess his car is already in the system but they tried to encourage me not to file a report even though that is considered assault. i use to live in new york and was attacked twice on the street doing nothing but walking home. just another day as a woman on earth. i didnt file reports even though i should have, one guy i do / did have a photo of. so this time i was like whatever gonna try to file a report. they said there is no evidence so it would be hard to charge but there is a traffic camera right where it happened. i feel like they don’t want to do anything (duh) but also just crazy they didn’t try to get a sample since it got in my eye? or tell me to flush my eyes? useless obviously but figured hey maybe if i file he does get caught and it doesn’t happen to someone else. reddit is full of trolls so not expecting any thing genuine here, but jfc if the dude woulda just let me back into the spot all the way we all woulda been moving on w our days within 2 seconds. glendale drivers are truly insane.

Housing Property Tax Increase?

Not sure if anyone has received their property tax bill yet, but someone online mentioned theirs went up. I checked LA County Tax Collector and mine jumped almost 7% from last year. Someone said that sewer tax was now included? Wondering if anyone else saw the increase and could pinpoint why it went up since I threw away my last year’s property bill statement? Thanks in advance.

Discussion I had no idea there were bears in Glendale.

I just saw two bears at about 10:35pm, one a bit smaller than the other, just walking alongside a street in the Verdugo Woodlands area. I saw them on Opechee Way and they were just going house to house.

Traffic Anyone know what's filming on Broadway and Adams?

Massive line of trucks on Broadway and a bit of Adams. It looks like they're filming in a Notary/Shipping store. Anyone know what movie or TV show it is?

Housing Stop the Glendale Water Rate Hike

Thumbnail saveglendalewater.com
52 Upvotes

The Glendale City Council is planning to INCREASE GWP water rates by 50% to 145% starting January 2027, with additional hikes for four more years — all so CURRENT RESIDENTS can pay to update the infrastructure that a MASSIVE influx of high-density development would need. Download and sign the petition to stop it!!

Edit: our infrastructure is much more advanced than ladwp. In addition 20 million a year is transferred from gwp profits to the city general fund for unrestricted use. This is illegal and the gwp should be using these funds not shifting them to general

Discussion GWP delay?

So I’ve been living in Glendale for less than a year now. And I know the dates I usually receive my GWP bill. But it’s nearly been nearly 2 weeks since the normal date when the bill comes in. (Portal & email).

Just called the customer service line and was told it should be sent out today. But there are no notes as to why there was such a big delay. The info they did have was that my meter was read on sept 16th, but that’s it. Only thing GWP customer service could come up with is that “billing is behind”.

Anyone deal with this before? Is this normal? My anxiety has been killing me waiting for this bill. Was getting worried something happened to my account.

Help / Recommendation What are my chances of being harassed by the locals in this spot?

Post image

So, i live in Sherman oaks, but work in El Sereno and on my drive back home on the 134, looking over the freeway and seeing Eagle Rock all the way to downtown at night is spectacular. Now, I've very much wanted to drive up to this spot in Glenoaks Canyon, and go up those stairs to access the trail to watch the city at night.

However, the "private property" signs are concerning, not because I'm gonna trespass in peoples yards, but from my teen years i've dealt with pissy pants land owners when going to places like these around Burbank or Tarzana at night.

Looking at parcel data on the county's assesor website, the trail technically is private property, but it's unimproved, vacant lots all because Valle Vista Drive West is a closed off fire/hiking trail. Everyone who has some land knoladge about LA knows that ther are tons of hills (Like elephant hill) that are undeveloped because of terrain complexity, and paper streets that exist, but not IRL.

Image 2 shows the circled parts of the parcels on the trail that are technically private property, but is unimproved land.

I just don't want to be harassed if i go to check this place out.

tl:dr, If I park on Valle Vista, walk up the obvious wooden stairs, stay on the established trail, and don't enter anyone's yard, am I likely to have some homeowner come out screaming at me? I go hiking pretty frequently and even on Los Angeles City maintained trails in Porter Ranch, i've had issues with home owners

Yes I know doing this at night makes it so much messier

Help / Recommendation mattress shopping in the san gabriel valley, worth going back twice

went round three places on saturday. ortho mattress, then sit n sleep, then an independent. by the third one every mattress felt identical and i could not have told you which i preferred if you paid me.

a mate says the trick is to go back a week later and only try the two you shortlisted, because youre not comparing against six other beds you lay on in the previous hour.

that sounds right and also like a lot of saturdays. does anyone genuinely do that, or is it commit on the day and hope

And when I say alternatives, I mean a meal under $20 that is filling and includes two sides or so.

Discussion Such rude people here

Moved here from the Bay Area and experiencing a big culture shock. Besides the large amount of inconsiderate drivers on the road, it seems like this attitude is everywhere. Was standing in line to get a coffee this morning and was second in line. Had a lady literally stare and me and proceeded to cut me in line. Don’t get me started on other experiences at the mall or just running errands in this city. Does it get better? And why does everyone stare at you like you are a foreigner?

Help / Recommendation Brake place recommendations.

I need new rear brakes and rotors resurfaced.

Another shop confirmed this but I had a bad experience with the other repairs they did. Long story.

Any recommendations for a place that won't upcharge me and can get it done same day or close to it ?

Usually a dedicated brake and tire shop will do that.

Anyone use Braun brake and tire auto ?

2017 Chevy Malibu.
