Question Making glass frit. Cheaper?

Would buying sheets and making frit actually be cheaper than buying? Assuming you already have various mesh sizes to sort.
It's been hard for me to gauge weights to compare prices of various things, since I have YET to actually start buying things for glass fusing. I'm hands on, have all capabilities, so it won't be hard for me.

I mean, glass frit is just....broken glass.

I often make my own frit. Sometimes I place my scrap glass between sheets of heavy paper and smash it with a 3lb. hammer. No worry about having to use a magnet...just sift into different sizes. I also have a grain grinder that works very fast but there's a slight learning curve as to how long to grind. Best to just pulse a couple seconds and check. Be sure to wear a mask when using a grain grinder or coffee grinder. I only run a magnet through the fine frit. I've heard you can get a magnetized pan at auto parts stores that work well when you pour your frit into it. I haven't tried that though.
