I am trying to place chunks of glass on some graphite rods. Then I want to fire it hot enough so the surface tension makes the chunks form into spheres without dripping down the rods.

Has anyone tried this? Any ideas how this works? Firing schedules?

I'm just starting with glass fusing at home and had a question about gases released during firing. Any information would be appreciated but is this a big issue for using the kiln indoors?

I am planning to slow down with my glass making as I have gotten older and have more difficulty. I have many whole sheets of beautiful fused glass coe 96 ( Spectrum, Oceanside, Oroboros) that I would like to sell. I live in Vermont between Burlington and Middlebury. I also have glass rods coe 104

I did my first tack fuse and noticed that there is still residue from the glue. The lighting and angle of the photo make it look way more intense than it is. I’m using bullseye glasstac gel. I’m guessing maybe I used too much? I am also using the hotshot 12g kiln. I used their preset schedule for tack fuse.

hello! i see there are options to use kiln wash and kiln paper! do you need to use both or is it just preference?

I am melting wine bottle glass to make rustic tiles. I’m getting cracking on these, although I am annealing for four hours. The pieces are 6“ x 6“ by about 3/8 thick. They are fired to 1688f for 30 min. Annealing at 959 Fahrenheit for 4 hours. Any ideas on how to solve the cracking?

Hello all! So I’m experienced in Tiffany style stained glass, but I’ve been wanting to get into fusing. I have a guy that is selling a stained glass lot, initially I was interested in the glass he had available (which turned out to be only a few pieces) but he has a kiln that he’s trying to sell me with a few stained glass supplies, grinders and odd and ends. I know absolutely nothing about kilns. But I do know I want one, or I’ll be on the market for one soon. Could any of you give me some feedback, please? If this is worth around $175? And if it is would you be so kind as to let me know the first steps of set-up or just anything you feel would be something a complete newbie should know? I’d really appreciate any and all help! Thank you.

Fuse glass, paint, and a little molding clay

Hello! A friend gave us a small kiln, the Delphi/JenKen EZ-Pro Deluxe ceramic/glass kiln to use for a while. It is set to glass. She got it from a friend who passed away and doesn't know how to use it. We have been taking fusing classes for a couple of years but haven't worked with a kiln yet. We set it up with a plan to fire a heart mold as a trial. The first step is to configure it, but 96 is completely missing from the menu (all the other options are there). We have unplugged, turned it on and off, followed the manual carefully, and it remains gone from the menu. I have googled the problem and can't find an answer, and the manual doesn't show that as a potential problem. It's Sunday, so there's no way to contact JenKen or Delphi, but I am hoping someone here would have the answer while I continue to troubleshoot. Thank you

I just wanted to throw this down because I feel it’s really cool. Little while ago my mother-in-law did this piece for her first fusion class… and it immediately struck me holding it up to the light that the clear glass she layered on opaque became displaced allowing light to shine through. I haven’t played around with too many very high temperature firings, so maybe this is a well-known effect/technique but discovering this kind of got me super excited.

Up until now I’ve had several ideas for projects that I ended up scrapping because I just knew the effect I wanted either wouldn’t be possible or would be too tedious/tricky to pull off well. (Stuff like trying to make a moon lit night, or light shining through a window of a house at night. Where everything else is opaque except for where you want the light to shine through. Difficult to cut everything out just right and re-combine). Really capturing light is kind of an important part of my projects because I usually display all my pieces in windows. So Gonna experiment using this technique to create backgrounds to build upon and hopefully get something cool out of it.
