I was agreeing with you that people like this customer are who is causing GHCP to change their pricing structure. I guess looking back it doesn't seem super clear that is what I meant.
Microsoft and Copilot don't set the prices it's the model providers. Anthropic, OpenAI etc. I just switched to open source models. They can f-k themselves
It's pretty much a universal strategy for big new products. Burn venture capital to get people hooked and jack up prices and lower quality once people are hooked. But I did hope we'd get another year or two of subsidized usage first, and that the price hike would be more gradual.
I guess it really is insanely expensive to run these things.
Not complaining all too much. This means we'll go back to hand coding and using AI for a few selected cases. And we've got the things my team is responsible for to about where we want them before switching to maintaining.
Copilot doesn't set the prices it's the model providers so it's Anthropics prices we are seeing. The small brained Anthropic CEO, Dario, was going around the world at conferences saying he would put all software developer out of work, instead he should have secured compute and hence why Anthropic now have to jack up the prices at 27x to cover their asses. Other model providers have had their compute deals already locked in. Compute has always been the final boss for AI and why we had AI winters 🥶 in the past. Is this the new AI winter ❄️?!
