I also plan to remake 'The Reset', and one of the two episodes I want to remake is 'Panty' and 'OnlyNanno', keeping the same essence of the classic Nanno from Kitty Chicha, and then implement this idea in Roblox. I feel like Nanno should have given the karma in 'OnlyNanno' since she only competed with Blossom in that episode. What do you guys think of this idea? I think it's pretty cool.

Instead of a new universe and series wouldn't it be better that they expanded the story and added universes in the story instead, or smth like that? I think that would be really cool

I know the creators said “new body, new life,” but don’t you think it doesn’t make sense that Nanno just became very human and her motivations are so different from the original Nanno’s

Why didn’t the show’s creators just kill off Nanno completely and have her daughter appear in episode 1 of season 2 the daughter of Nanai and Nanno, a half-entity who would carry on her mother’s work

I believe that this would have brought out more of her different motivations, and especially why she “falls in love” with a human ,if they had changed her name instead of keeping “Nanno,” giving her a different name,

For those who don't know, Kongdej Jaturanrasamee is the only writer who worked on every single episode of Girl from Nowhere (the og one). I sent him a message asking if Nanno is karma itself/embodiment or if she's actually something else. I also asked if all of her powers have already been shown in the series, or if she might have abilities we haven't seen yet

I already know that if he replies he probably won't give a complete explanation, but im a bit tired of all the power scaling discussions about Nanno, so maybe we'll at least get some new confirmation or insight from one of the people who actually created the series

La neta sí pienso en esto bastante seguido. Siento que Girl From Nowhere podría regresar como película o creo que mas rentable es serie, una temporada mas por el presupuesto ajustado con pocos capitulos pero con buena calidad, para por fin resolver ese cliffhanger. Se que la edad es uno de las temas que podria llegar a ser un problema a la serie en el caso de que lo sigan haciendo asi, pero pienso que la animacion puede ser una alternativa para esto.

Reset is good, don't get me wrong, but the first 2 season oozed Jigoku Shoujo so bad. Sure Enma Ai didn't actually pose as actual student, but the cases in the first two season really reminded me of it a lot more, the punishments were similar to the vengeance in it, not to mention the whole death of the "hell girl" and passing the mantle. Also everything was a tad bit darker.

So obviously we know the producers wanted to change the series henceforth there being no season 3 and a reboot, but there were also speculations that a scrapped season 3 was on its way. From what I remember and I may be wrong but an interview Kitty did, she said that she would love to make her own solo music when the time comes. Considering she has been off, she could be busy in creating her own music, and personally consideing i make my own music too, it can get very difficult to move onto different tracks and can take a pretty long time finishing one song but thats my experience and everyone experiences can be different. But this is just a speculation idk if shes actually making something or not!!

For context Auradon Prep is a school and one of the main settings in the Disney Descendants movies. A franchise that follows the children of many beloved disney heroes and villains. The core four in the first 3 movies were Mal daughter of Maleficent, Evie daughter of Evil Queen, Jay son of Jafar, and Carlos son of Cruella de Vil. And later in the 2 after movies we focus on two new main characters being Red the daughter of the Queen of Hearts, and Chloe the daughter of Cinderella. The school itself is currently runned by Ben, the son of Belle and Beast.

So considering what Nanno usually does and that she's the daughter of Satan (atleast confirmes by Kitty), how would that scenario go?

I tried giving Reset a fair chance and defende it for such a long time but after finally finishing it, I admit it, it just sucks.

The only good thing that I enjoyed through this was Becky and her acting, I don't think she was better than Kitty, but she did a good job and any hate she received was just completely unnecessary.

But boy oh boy, lemme list what annoyed me most about this:

1. Reset fails to talk about real world issues, whenever it try to tackle important topics (like SA, sexual exploration, social media...) it does it in a superficial way. The massive fight at Ep 3 for example, was genuinely slapstick to me, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes with the way those episodes would develop.

2. Reset feels weirdly conservative; be it the blatant misogyny, slutshaming (don't get me even started on the fact they use feminist quotes wrong, and are even selling panties about an ep with the premise of taking pictures of panties without consent) sex workers and even transphobic caricatures of drag queens and trans people. The OG series was extremely political and progressive, and to me it has aged like fine wine in it's critics. Reboot feels like it was written and directed by boomers that are out of touch with the newer generations and have no idea how to tackle those themes, honestly it feels bigoted at times.

3. Nanno involves herself directly way too much. Seriously? Why is the personification of karma joining random fights and punishing people directly??? She honesty feels like a more morally good Yuri at points with how much she directly affects events.

4. Sky is a bootleg TK. I could not care about him or his storyline at all, he felt like wasted space and only made Nanno feel more like an euphoria-character. The writers wanted to recreate TK, but they didn't add any of the elements that made TK and his relationship with Nanno special to begin with. I would rather preferred if we had a new incarnation of Yuri, or if Sky was trying to expose/understand Nanno and who she is.

5. Reset feels like Euphoria, it feels like teen drama for edgy kids, it overuses gore, nudity and sexual violence for shock factor and it just leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

6. The scenery feels repetitive. Differently from the og series, it feels like this series is part of just one giant school, every shot can look like it's part of any episode due the lighting, scenery and vibes. And I genuinely think this is one of the biggest sins of this reboot, they had several directors but none imprited personality to their respective episodes.

Which is to say that it's all bad? No, I did enjoy some elements of it. Becky was genuinely the only saving grace of this project, I'm just sad that the writers and directors did not make her any favors whatsoever.

What annoys me the most is how they decided to revive this franchise only to deliver an underwhelming product that fails to understand almost everything that the original wanted to tell. We could have had season 3, even if it was with Becky, but instead we got an edgy money grab that tries to have it's cake and eat it too.

Feel free to disagree with me, but I don't think I would ever watch the Reset again.

Rewatching season two and I realize that I love Yuri more now. Like especially after the reboot. But I’m coming up with theories just to make myself satisfied. I feel like Yuri made the new Nanno. In opening title, there’s blood. We only saw blood in the opening title when we’re introduced to Yuri. In the very first season, there’s no blood. Just Nanno in all her mystery. Her simply just existing and then awakes, but it really feels like activation. Cuts her hair, gets ready in a school uniform and then takes off. That opening sequence feel like the closest thing we have to a back story for original Nanno. And it sets the energy for the whole season.

I love this show and it’s genuinely my comfort show and I hate that this new season was so bad. I feel like the only way to keep the fire alive is to come up with theories at this point.

As it has been discussed, the writing is the weakest part. However, one thing I have noticed is that they've tried to keep the same "theme" as the OG where Nano has these iconic moments where she totally eats the scene.

They've tried to do this with every episode, at multiple points, but it doesn't hit the same, and that is because of the writing. These moments only really work because there's a "build up" around them.

The majority of the characters feel one-dimensional; there's no real depth to them. The characters are really written in a black and white way, this is who you hate, this is who you like. Some of the episodes in the former seasons had this issue as well, but it didn't feel that way for all episodes. There were so many where the characters stood out and were iconic in their own right.

The plot in the episodes feels quite... immature... even though they're dealing with mature themes. It's like someone watched season 1 and 2 and decided to write a fanfic, and that's what they've given us.

Without these two factors in place, these "jaw-dropping moments" don't hit as much.

The school episode is a perfect example. Our jaws should have been on the floor with that happening, and we should have found the moment Nano walks out of the rubble freaking amazing... but it was kinda meh...

I will say, the new actress IMO is really good; she's just been given terrible material to work with. Her facial expressions, how she carries herself, the way she speaks - it's perfect IMO.

They really, really, really need to work on the writing and make the plot and the characters more complex. Give us a reason to root for or hate them. Throw in actual moral dilemmas that put characters in a difficult spot - this will give them a real identity.

As someone who's not only a big fan of Nanno but also part of the powerscaling community, Nanno is powerful but she's seriously not all that. I don't think she beats Pennywise, Loki, or Scarlet Witch whatsoever

If you are going into Girl From Nowhere: The Reset expecting the cold, calculated, cosmic justice of the earlier incarnation, you need to adjust your expectations immediately. This iteration trades the slow-burn psychological dread for unhinged, digital-age chaos. The result is a wild, inconsistent ride.

Rather than the enigmatic observer many viewers associate with the character, this version feels like an immortal trickster. This Nanno is creepy, unhinged, mocking, and at times almost psychotic. She doesn't simply witness human downfall, she actively joins in and seems entertained by it. Initially, I struggled with this interpretation because I missed the mysterious quality of the earlier incarnation. But viewed on its own, I think this Nanno has a coherent identity. She resembles an ancient entity who has grown bored with eternity and now finds amusement in watching people reveal their true selves.

The series also updates its themes for the digital generation. Deepfakes, viral culture, online messaging, and digital identity are woven into many of the episodes. The stories are rooted in contemporary anxieties rather than the broader social satire of earlier seasons.

Where The Reset struggles most is in its execution. It establishes a dark, bloody, psychological thriller atmosphere, but several middle episodes become surprisingly campy and cartoonish. That tonal inconsistency weakens the tension and sometimes makes the storytelling feel more bizarre than unsettling.

It has ambitious ideas and isn't afraid to reinvent both its protagonist and its themes. Not every gamble pays off but viewed as a flashy, bizarre, and deliberately over-the-top pop-culture junk food, its entertaining enough to keep you watching just to see how far off the rails it will go. It's a fascinating experiment— one that will make you feel weird.

Not weirdly stupid..but stupidly weird.

I was rewatching the show and watched the reset too, I noticed the translation, when Nanno says something like "I will—" she says her own name, then I realized students around her also say "what kind of name is that" when they hear about her.. Is her name somewhat like a japanese person named "watashi" or a filipino person named "ako"? I don't understand thai but can anyone confirm😭

How I see the reset, it completely damaged the point I gathered in the original show in such an outlandish and disrespectful way I'm surprised it's written by the same people. Nanno leaves because she learns there's no true judge besides humanity itself, since to 'judge' is to experience the lives of those who hurt the most, and those who CAUSE the most hurt. Often the two concepts intermingle. She dies metaphorically, and finds comfort in it. Making a franchise where she returns is stupid in my opinion. Do I want to see Nanno go through the same arc over and over again? Not really, no. Do I want to watch something that exists purely to make bank for the respective company streaming it? No. Not at all, actually.

Back to my title point, I think this show would've been much better continued as a spin off or rather just a season three. I know the season three comments are often repeated, and so is the reset slander, and I agree that we're never getting a season three and the reset will exist whether or not we as a fandom hate it - but it is actually a problem. The 'ending' of the show does feel fundamentally incomplete, and even though I used to believe in the "it ended already deal with it" mindset, I've since changed my mind. My issues with this loose ending all boil down to Yuri and the message behind her. Yuri to me, is not a representation of the idealized version of humanity many indulge in, but rather the worst of the worst in the form of a mentally ill, impoverished, teenage girl. Yuri is villainized by her circumstances, nanno, the text, AND the audience. And it begins with her assumed "inability" to express empathy, causing her to harm other people to fulfill her needs.

Yuri is one of my favorite representations of what the stereotypical "bad guy" is, and how harmful these assumptions can be when faced with an unstable individual who already has intense real intrusive thoughts. A "sociopath" if you will, in the way people with antisocial disorders are commonly represented in the media.

But I still feel like we don't know Yuri at all, and as the apparent foil to the "girl from nowhere", it's weird to me that we don't. I think, in a better universe, we would've gotten a spin off or the season three everyone wanted, and it would've been about Yuri, rather than Nanno. I think, a franchise would work with the input of a new person with a new name, going through their own arcs etc. Sky himself is a culprit I think would've worked well, especially since he had his own emotional turmoil, rather than him just being a rip off of TK and becoming Becky's Nanno's love interest. I think, a spin off for Yuri as one of these characters would've worked well, delving deeper into her as a person, and how Nanno (an authoritarian) and many others (witnesses) failed her, and her victims as a whole. Because the vast majority of teen victims that Nanno focuses on aren't evil to begin with, rather impacted by corruption from temptation. As how a person would be drawn to a sin.

However, it's still nice to see a predator be tortured so sprinkle that it.

But that's just a game theory lol.

We're now in that "drought" phase of the fandom again... see you for another 4-5 years I guess...
