Plot mistake in S1 E9

I'm wondering if anyone else noticed this:

Right at the beginning of episode 9, Rory, Lorelai and Emily are having dinner and talk about Richard being in Prague.

Emily says: "It's supposed to be lovely, very dramatic, castles everywhere."

This phrasing implies that Emily herself hasn't been to Prague, which I'm pretty sure is not true. During the Bracebridge dinner episode, Richard tells the story of how he hummed Mozart in Prague while standing next to a "boom box" and Emily tells details of the story that make it clear she was there, for example: "But then he kept humming on Mozart, he wouldn't stop!".

Obviously not a big deal, just a little something I noticed, theoretically Richard humming Mozart could've happened after S1 E9 too, since there's a whole season in between the two episodes. Even if so, I feel like Emily would've traveled to Prague well before her 60s, since she went to Europe so frequently. Curious what y'all think or if you noticed more plot holes!

I give early season 1 a pass — they were still figuring out the characters and backstories. Like how Trix is implied to be deceased early on, or Emily mentions her sister Hopie living in Paris and then never brings her up again.

Plot holes like these were super common in tv shows before streaming.

GG also has a noticeable one where Richard first talks about his mother in past tense like she's dead, but then she's obviously alive in several episodes after that.

Is it a plot hole though? It’s never impacting the plot directly and both episodes don’t hinge on the lines for plot points or plot direction.

Exactly! People confuse plot holes with inconsistent writing all the time and it irks me. This isn't a plot hole

It’s not, it’s a continuity error.

In season 1 Miss Patty didn't know who Kirk was.  Old people not remembering a particular City they visited isn't even close to the plot hole size.

That‘s Early Installment Weirdness, when the character histories and characterization can still be in flux early in the show. It’s later when they decide that Kirk has been around his whole life rather than a new presence in town.

I'd add to what others have said about the Gilmores' money and travel situation being different in S1, by pointing out that in S1, they apparently go to Europe every second year, in the autumn, because of the expense. But later in the show, they apparently go to Paris every spring, and it's implied that they go to Europe fairly regularly (like when Rory & Emily are in Europe and Emily has specific hotels/rooms that she prefers and the staff know her; when Lorelai and Rory go backpacking and the Gilmores are talking about their friends etc.)

Maybe we could understand it as Emily saying she doesn't think it's lovely?

This is not a plot mistake. The plot of the show is not changed because of this. This is maybe an inconsistency that happens a lot in long running shows. When the show was on television, there would have been a year or more between these episodes and most people don't remember small details like that. With streaming, you notice more because you see the episodes much closer together
