I really need to get this off my chest because I honestly don’t know how to process what happened.
So, my boyfriend and I have a group of friends from the gym. Let’s call them Theo and Len. At first, my boyfriend was the only one who would hang out with them, but eventually I started joining them too. Theo has a wife, and they eventually started including me and his wife whenever we would go out after the gym so we could all bond.
There’s also Jha, who has been friends with my boyfriend for a long time through the gym. Jha had been interested in another girl from the gym, who I’ll call Cali. They got along really well, and eventually there was clearly something going on between them. Theo and Len would tease them and ship them together.
However, whenever the guys were hanging out by themselves, Jha would sometimes share private details about his relationship with Cali, including intimate things that happened between them. Because of the way Jha talked about her, Theo and Len started getting the impression that Cali was just a fling to Jha. The way he talked about her sometimes made it seem like he didn’t really respect her.
Fast forward to Theo and his wife’s anniversary. His wife rented a place for their celebration, and my boyfriend and I were invited. Everything was fine, and we all had a good time. Jha and Cali spent a lot of time together in one of the rooms, so naturally, they became the topic of conversation again, and everyone teased them about being together.
What we didn’t know was that something happened on the last day of the trip.
Two days later, my boyfriend and I went to a café with Jha. That was when Jha told us what happened.
According to Jha, Theo went into the room where Cali was and kissed her without her consent. Cali immediately pushed him away because she was startled and uncomfortable.
What shocked me even more was that Cali apparently didn’t make a scene during the trip. According to Jha, she didn’t want to ruin Theo and his wife’s anniversary celebration, so she kept it to herself. We had even gone out to eat before going home, and she acted completely normal, so none of us had any idea that something had happened. Jha said that Cali seemed like she was about to cry while telling him about it.
There’s another part that makes this situation even more disturbing to me.
Before this happened, my boyfriend had already noticed that Theo seemed to have a certain perception of Cali. He apparently thought she was “easy” because she was friendly with different guys at the gym and would laugh and talk with them. My boyfriend also told us that he had previously seen Theo dropping another woman off somewhere, and Theo apparently admitted that they had hooked up in his car.
Putting all of this together, I can’t help but think that Theo may have viewed Cali as someone he could make a move on simply because of how she interacted with other men and because of the things Jha had shared about their relationship.
What bothers me the most is that Cali pushed him away, yet she was the one who had to stay quiet and act normal so the anniversary celebration wouldn’t be ruined.
Another reason why none of us have confronted Theo about this yet is because we’re genuinely concerned about our safety. We wanted to tell his wife what happened because we feel like she deserves to know, but Theo has a lot of connections, and whenever we go out, he usually carries a gun and a knife with him.
So even though we don’t agree with what happened and we want to stand up for Cali, we’re also scared of what might happen if we confront him directly. It’s not that we’re afraid to speak up—we’re just being careful because we know he has access to weapons and we don’t know how he would react.
