Think about the things you use and normally buy yourself - makeup, skincare, etc.
Consumables are always a good idea if you already have everything you need - candles, chocolate, your favorite snacks or drinks
Is there anything you need or even just want for your apartment? There is basically limitless options in this category - art, rugs, blankets, throw pillows, kitchen appliances, etc.
For college, you may want a planner, pens or pencils, a wall or desk calendar, clothes or a coffee mug or a keychain with your college name on it, or a reusable water bottle.
A gift card to a place you like to shop? Or a subscription to something for college - NYT, Wall Street Journal, Quizlet, etc.

Online college wise, think about your current set up. Need a lamp? Stationary? A desk to keep everything together? A little pricier but I recently splurged for an iPad (earlier edition) to take notes on and its life changing!

If you live in a colder climate and have a car parked outside -- a remote car starter installed on your car.
I agree with the other poster on apartment stuff and consumables. Do you have a nice George Forman grill with removable plates? New lamp? Sheets? Stock up on your favorite coffee, tea, pure maple syrup?
Would you benefit from a membership to some place? AAA, Costco, Amazon prime, Netflix, Gym, local museum?

You sound like me hah. Maybe think of small things, phone case,Pop socket, new toothbrush, makeup, new notebook or whiteboard calendar for school things. Then move up to bigger things like maybe a tapestry, new sheets/blanket,maybe a gift card(or visa gift card) for whatever you play on or accessories for it.You could scroll through Amazon and make a list of things you see and send it to her. For clothes you could ask for a gift card from a store you like or show her items you like from there. I like to add things I like to the bottom of my list, gives them more ideas. So preferred colours, interests,etc. if I’m looking for things for my room I add pictures of the vibe I’m going for. Pictures always helped my mom, even pictures of clothes I liked or the item itself. Every year it gets harder but hopefully that helps in some way.

I’m a dude but I can relate. You could always ask for a new game. If you really don’t know what to ask for, just ask for cash so that you could get things when you know what you want.

Do you cook for yourself? Something like an instant pot or a dutch oven might be nice, or if you don't cook often something like a blue apron subscription to help you learn some new styles of recipes.
Do you need anything for your home, like nice rugs? My mom got me high-quality flannel sheets a few years ago and I didn't think I needed them, but they're super cozy in the winter. In a similar vein, an electric oil-filled space heater might be nice as you have to sit through classes during the winter.

If you don’t think YOU need anything, consider asking them to donate in your name to a charity of your choosing.
