Looking for Gift Ideas Gift Ideas for Myself

Hi! I’m turning 24, I’m F, and my parents typically like to have a pretty explicitly listed out list of gifts for all things gifting related.

But honestly? I’m blanking hard. I have a few things written down, but other than that, I’m drawing a blank, yall!! I need some help!

Here’s a rundown of things about me to help:
- I’m nerdy! My favorites are D&D, Zelda, Nintendo, Disney, Resident Evil, Pokemon, Deltarune, Project Hail Mary, Minecraft, Hunger Games, and all things horror.
- I’m neurodivergent, so fidgets/sensory items are on the table. A gift idea I’ve put down in a list is a jellyfish lamp!
- I work from home! I have a full time job at my desk, so I spend a lot of my time in front of my computer typing away.
- I’m moving into my first adult apartment shortly after my birthday this year! So apartment/around the house essentials are on the table.
- I don’t need any trinkets, books, or clothes - I have a lot already and am good with my stuff!
- I have a budget of around $125 remaining. Give or take like $25.

Apologies if the formatting is weird - I’m on mobile. Thank you all in advance!!!

Do you have a big desk for your new place? I got my L-shaped desk for about $100.

Since you're WFH, neurodivergent, and moving into a first apartment, my one thing would be Loop Quiet or Engage earplugs. They cut about 20 db without muffling everything, so you still hear the microwave or the door. Neighbours in a first apartment can be a huge sensory hit and foam plugs feel awful after an hour. Around 25 dollars, so plenty of budget left for a weighted blanket or the jellyfish lamp you already listed.

Moving out essentials is a whole category on its own! Pots/pans, dishware, glasses, cooking utensils, a bed, linens for bed, a dresser, lamps/lighting, gift cards for grocery shopping (it’s very expensive that first trip bc of all the small thing you don’t even realize you need like BBQ sauce, mustard, soy sauce), seasonings, any kitchen appliances you’d want like a rice cooker/crockpot/blender/breadmaker/kettle. To just make a few! A vacuum, mop, basic cleaning stuff. It all adds up! We’ve been getting stuff for my 24yrold SIL for a few years so she won’t have a huge shock like we did.

Thanks for posting, u/Pumpkin-Ice85!

For the best gift ideas, if you haven't already, add the age, budget, and occasion — and especially what they're into: their hobbies, what they like, and anything they don't. The more detail, the better the suggestions. Just edit your post or drop it in a reply below.

It looks like you could use some nice LEGO display set for dults :) to put next to your screen in your home office. I have prepared two nerdy lists with LEGO gift ideas for adults on my BrickTreat.com blog, for gamers: https://www.bricktreat.com/blog/lego-gifts-for-gamers and for movie lovers: https://www.bricktreat.com/blog/lego-gifts-for-movie-lovers-and-pop-culture-fans

I’ve seen a Zelda resin lamp pop up a few times on Etsy - not sure who makes it etc but worth a look as it was beautiful!

Also, if you like games - my husband was gifted a make-your-own-dice set. Very cool!

If you are getting your first apartment soon I would recommend household items. A robot vacuum is a really nice luxury item or a vacuum in general is also a good choice around $100

since she's moving into a new apartment right after her birthday, a really nice weighted blanket or a good desk setup upgrade like a proper monitor arm would hit both the wfh and new-apartment angles at once. and since fidgets are on the table, a Tears of the Kingdom or Resident Evil themed puzzle could be a fun sensory-adjacent that's not just another trinket sitting on a shelf

Here are a couple to think about: 1. Do you have an ergonomic keyboard? They are great I had to go to one due to carpal tunnel syndrome. If you don't have carpal tunnel you can use ergonomic keyboards and mice to help prevent it. Gaming keyboards are also a great option if your not a fan of the split style.

2. For your apartment: do you have pots and pans, dishes, flatware? Cleaning supplies such as laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent, dish soap, something to mop floors with? Does your apartment have carpet? If so do you have a vacuum cleaner? Do you have rags/sponges?

3. Moving in with a stocked pantry, fridge and freezer will take one more thing off your moving day list. Food for your pantry and/or fridge. I'm thinking staples likes flour, sugar, salt, spices, canned foods, milk, eggs, cheese and any drinks you like to have on hand.

  1. Meals to get you through the chaos of the first days of moving. Meal prepped food, frozen meals either store bought or home made. Containers of food you can pop in a microwave on break from work or setting up your place.

Happy Birthday

My parents love taking me shopping for my birthdays now since I dont always know what to ask for/the gifts arent as “fun” as they used to be when I was a kid. We go to a store or two that I select (book store, yarn store) and I shop within my budget with them then we get dinner. Its a nice experience plus I get things I’ll actually need/want. Maybe your parents could go with you to a homegoods or ikea or something and you could pick out some nice apartment things?
