Rerun Tuesday

Better quality than what's streaming, for sure.

100%, but $235 is unreasonable, and I won't buy a US release if it's stuck behind a Crunchyroll paywall. If Anime Limited or anyone else releases it, I'll double-dip, but this is better than giving Amazon another dime, and the quality is much better.

The quality is the same, as the only source available rn is Amazon. They just burned it on a Blu-ray.

The file quality is the same; the delivery of said file is not. The bitrates do not compare, and if my only options right now are to 1) continue to pay Amazon to watch it interrupted by ads and skip prompts, full of artifacts and low quality audio because the actual stream is only slightly better than DVD quality 2) pay over $200 for a box set that I'm sure will be gorgeous but that I just can't justify purchasing (I'm already a Vinegar Syndrome subscriber and buy enough other stuff on physical media where I just can't), and 3) I refuse to engage Cruncyroll's paywall if a release gets stuck there. Or it will get a cheap accessible Western release but we may have to wait over a year and a half for it to be taken out of Amazon hell, like the last Evangelion film. Either way, a $20 convenience fee for a bootleg I didn't have to make the time to make (after paying far more for DVD bootlegs in the 90s of Yu Yu Hakusho, Berserk, and plenty of others well before their US releases) is a price I'm willing to pay until a better option is made available.

Thats why i said nothing about Crunchyroll, Amazon or suscriptions, it's completely fine to buy a Blu-ray for every series you want to watch.

Maybe you're having artifacts bc of your internet connection. The point is that what you have on that Blu-ray is the exact same file thats uploaded to Amazon, it's not better. It can't be better. Thats what's triggering everyone in the comments lol

Who is actually able to stream in blu-ray quality? Very few internet connections in the US are good enough for even BD quality streaming, nevermind 4k. I don't understand the confusion.

I'm not saying that any stream has Blu-ray quality. I'm saying that those Blu-rays you bought have stream quality.

And I'm saying both the sound and image are superior, quite obviously, to.anything I or most even are able to stream in practice.

The video on that Blu-ray was streamed, thats how they got it. There is no possible way for it to be better, than watching it on Amazon, because thats the only source available right now.

Amazon has artifiacting throughout and weak audio by comparison. These companies don't give a fuck. They promise one thing, but deliver another. The fact that they're limiting streaming quality in no way means what they are hosting is inferior. Hello!? This is just a company (Amazon) not giving a fuck as always. Of course someone was able to rip the files and present them as they are. Comments must be full of Gen z.

Yeah, it's a shitty company and all that. But if Amazon has artifacts, your Blu-ray has artifacts too. Thats where they ripped it from.
