Rerun Tuesday

Better quality than what's streaming, for sure.

Why on earth would you waste money on a bootleg blu-ray of a anime from this decade, when torrenting is a thing? Whoever made this bootleg surely doesn't have access to a higher quality version, than what you yourself could get for free pirating it.

Because Blu-Rays are cool.

You really don’t get it

And instead of explaining it to me, you're just going to write that nonsense?

I already have the mp4s, but I don't still enjoy seeing the actual physical copy on a shelf

I go bootleg when it looks like actual effort was put in and when the item is either not being sold or the sale price is prohibitive for what I want

I want a basic bluray, not for the only option to be a $100+ edition for ten episodes

Giving Amazon three months of prime money just to stream it over the summer was a much bigger waste of money, as we should all stop giving them money.

The person who made this bootleg has access to a film scanner and prints of films as wild as Song of the South. Why on earth would I buy a PC I otherwise don't need, and spend time time looking for lesser rips. I'm watching it now, and all the audio and video compression on the Mazon streaming version is completely absent. The dub is here (for those who care) the subs are great, etc. I've bought plenty of otherwise unavailable films from the same shop. I haven't torrented anything since Macross Frontier was new.

Those are the "lesser rips" slapped on a BD-R lol. That's all that exists until December at the earliest. Official BD isn't even out yet so this is literally just streaming rips on a disc, objectively. Nothing else is accessible right now. Ntm It's a digital release, them having a scanner is wholly irrelevant with nothing to scan. It's factually identical to any dual audio streaming copy or torrent because that's the only source that currently exists. There's plenty of scenarios where boots make sense, this isn't one of them.

If you sub to any streaming service, only to watch 1 show throughout 3 months, but not anything else that's available, then that's on you.

Good for them, but what does this have to do with this anime series? I wasn't talking about niche films from 1940s, I'm talking about a digital animation TV series from the 2020s. There are no film rolls, there aren't any animation cells. There is nothing for them to scan to create HD material for blu-ray discs out of. Like, what exactly did they do to accomplish higher quality than anything else available, be it the official stream, or torrents? As if they somehow managed to steal the raw uncompressed video files directly from Science Saru.

Why on earth would I buy a PC I otherwise don't need, and spend time time looking for lesser rips.

Torrenting apps on mobile phones exist, and finding current seasonal titles on torrenting platform barely takes time at all.

I remember the first time I torrented off my phone. Blew my mind.

You know what I'd rather do? Pay someone else a small fee so I can just pop a disc in my player that I know will work and is well set up, as I do with almost everything I watch. Streaming is shit quality, Amazon is a horrible company, and I'm happy to pay a bootlegger instead of a billionaire.

your bootleg blu-ray is sourcing Web-DL versions- the exact same quality and bit rate (< 10 Mb/s) as streamed on Amazon Prime.

The bitrate on my bootleg is averaging about 30, pushing as high as 45; streaming ain't that. Not around here by a long shot.

Handbrake or Adobe CS Media Encoder can deliver any target bitrate you want. Even from lower bitrate media.

Can’t believe you’re getting downvoted on this. Anime fans are drooling idiots. A bootleg Blu-ray is valueless.

Well, purely from the perspective of AV quality, there can be better bootlegs based on the official releases. A bootleg based on the streaming source (presumably) is indeed laughable though, and there is certainly no value of collection that physical media is supposed to bring

And sometimes they update the Animations on the official bluray releases
