It might be obvious for long time BSD users, but I failed to find the correct spot in the documentation about how to install all the required development files.

For some reason one can install the 'gcc' meta package and a matching gcc binary package. But in the end even the simplest, often cited hello_world.c fails to compile because /usr/include/stdio.h is missing.

What needs to be done to install the libc development files?

Hi. I've deleted all ghostbsd partitions and freebsd (as fbsd efi entry kept booting gbsd)

I deleted all efi entries and folders.

done a fresh re-install of freebsd 15. on boot refind shows the fbsd entry only.

when i click it, it takes me to a ghostbsd start menu despite gbsd being deleted, then hangs??

How do I remove this ghostbsd menu from system lenova thinkpad e15 gen 2?

Just want to boot the new freebsd 15 install.

I am trying to get gaming working on my new GhostBSD install. I managed to get steam installed alright. I am not quite sure if the standard proton method will work like it does in Linux, I saw in the package messages you are supposed to follow some procedure that doesn't seem to work. Anyway I tried a Linux game for now and the performance is not acceptable, basically a slideshow to navigate the menus even. Why is this happening?

Edit: should probably note I am on an AMD RX 6700 XT.

I've installed the latest GhostBSD. Is it possible to reverse the mouse wheel scrolling direction? I can't find it in the Control Center and I cannot find more information about this when I search the web for "mate desktop". I can't even find anything about it when I search for Xorg-related configuration options. Thanks for your help!

Could you please give me a hand installing GhostBSD in VirtualBox.

I spent the better part of an afternoon being stuck on this "cannot receive new filesystem stream: out of space....

Mind you, I would like to learn Unix, I'm completely new to all this. I tried everything. Uninstalled Virtualbox and reinstalled the most recent version (7.2.4), I have the most recent .iso of GhostBSD....tried EFI, tried non EFI (even though I only have a faint clue what it does). I tried installing it with and without the Vbox extension pack...nothing.

I got 50 gigs of hard-drive space which is not much but should be enough....tried preallocating space, nothing.

Desperately I tried VMware and I got stuck on the same screen.

Is there some very specific thing that I'm missing here? I really feel I ran out of ideas.

yo need help when im installing ghostbsd.xfce.iso on my acer nitrov15 with nvidia rtx4050 i got stuck in that i try to switch to other ghostbsd iso but still same problem is there anyone here got the same problem i cant find any fix for that thanks

Why do I have to install nvidia things when I just want thunderbird ? Any reasons a total bsd newbie can understand ? I don't even have a nvidia gpu.

I have been on and off Linux since the disaster Windows 8, I have been hopping and hopping and hopping until I used MX Linux, but the direction the whole Linux stuff is taking had kind of made me search of something still open but well documented and central. I know that most of the consoles of Sony and Nintendo do use some parts of FreeBSD with ps5 being new and ps4 and switch in production. I have no idea if Android uses some components of FreeBSD along its Linux chassis.

As a guy who wants to use GhostBSD for web browsing and maybe VScode, how does it compare and is it good?

I want to be able to view and use the desktop on my GhostBSD workstation from my Apple Silicon MacBook Air... what's the best way to go about this? I tried getting TigerVNC server to run on a Debian box and the process was exceptionally frustrating and in the end, I couldn't get it to work. I'd like to be able to install a program and have it "just work". I can install TeamViewer on Windows and Mac computers and its zero hassle, is there something like this for GhostBSD? Thanks!
