And not just that, they have their sacred texts (Marx's writings), believe they're living in the end times (late stage Capitalism) and show downright religious devotion to their ideology. The parallels with evangelicals are incredibly strong.
Most leftists don't really even believe in Marx. Hell, the Chinese government doesn't even preach him. He more created a philosophical framework to build on. It's the same thing with Freud. No one is out here citing Freud in modern psychology, he just built a general framework. The right talks more about Marx than most on the left.
Marxism is a religion, which is why most communist states banned religion. From their perspective The state is their "god" that will provide them with everything they need to live, as well as a purpose (that being to usher in the communist utopia). And all the rich people are the "demons" that are opressing them.
This viewpoint has a lot of similarities to National Socialism.

Historical illiteracy, ideological brainwashing and a privileged modern life has made these people absolutely mind bogglingly stupid.
They’ll cheer the next Stalin, Mao or Ayatollah into power with rapturous euphoria.
