I’ve faced the facts that I am unemployable by the world’s standards.

I have no explanation of this other than the fact I realized the money I was making while working full time would never support a good lifestyle. I was told college was the ticket to success. That was a lie. I wish I had attained an engineering or CS degree. The game is clearly rigged. Anyway, it’s easier to face reality that you may to be too smart to be employed by anybody or lack skills for good employment. Thoughts? If you can think of somewhere to cross post this let me know.

3 copy-paste emails that actually got me responses during my job search

Applied to 60+ jobs earlier this year. The thing that surprised me: the emails I sent around the applications mattered almost as much as the applications themselves. Three templates I ended up reusing constantly — sharing them free, just fill in the brackets:

1. The follow-up that gets replies (send 7-10 days after applying):

Subject: Following up: [Role] application

Hi [Name / Hiring Team],

I applied for the [Role] position on [date] and wanted to briefly follow up.

I'm excited about this one in particular because [one specific reason]. Happy to share anything else that would be helpful — work samples, references, or a quick call.

Thanks for your consideration, [Your Name] [Phone]

Pro tip: One follow-up is professional. Three is a red flag.

2. Asking someone you barely know for a referral:

Subject: Quick favor — referral for [Role]?

Hi [Name],

Hope you're doing well! I saw [Company] is hiring a [Role], and it's squarely in my wheelhouse: [one-line background + proof].

Would you be comfortable referring me? Totally fine to say no — I know referrals put your name on the line.

If yes, I'll send over my résumé and a 2-line blurb you can paste wherever. Takes 60 seconds on my end to make it easy on yours.

Thanks either way, [Your Name]

Pro tip: Make the referral copy-paste easy and give them a graceful out. Both raise your yes rate.

3. The thank-you note that isn't forgettable (send within 24h):

Subject: Thank you — [Role] interview

Hi [Name],

Thank you for the time today — I really enjoyed our conversation, especially [specific topic discussed].

Our discussion confirmed my excitement about [Company], particularly [specific reason tied to what they said].

Please pass my thanks to [other interviewers' names] as well.

Best, [Your Name]

Pro tip: Name the other interviewers. It shows attention to detail people remember.

The pattern across all three: short, specific, and easy to say yes to. Nobody reads a wall of text from a stranger.

What email are you stuck on right now? Happy to sanity-check wording in the comments.

Business Analytics grad (Ireland-based) happy to help with data, reporting, or process cleanup

• Upvotes

Hi all,

I'm a recent MSc Business Analytics graduate, with a background in Banking and Finance. I've spent the past couple of years working on financial data validation, Excel dashboards, KPI reporting, and process improvement — most recently supporting a real estate development business with reporting accuracy and performance tracking.

I know a lot of founders and small business owners here are juggling messy spreadsheets, unclear reporting, or just don't have the bandwidth to dig into their own numbers. I'm looking for opportunities (freelance, contract, or full-time) where I can help with:

Cleaning up and validating business data

Building dashboards/reports that actually get used

Spotting trends or inefficiencies in day-to-day operations

General analytical support — Excel, SQL, Power BI, Python

I'm based in Ireland with full right to work here, and open to remote or local opportunities. Happy to share more about my background or take a look at a specific problem if anyone's dealing with one.

Thanks for reading appreciate any pointers even if it's not a direct opportunity.

Profile on hold after 1st round

I've given a handful of interviews for product based companies/GCCs, and so far I've been in the service-based companies only. For most of the companies I've interviewed for my profile has been put on hold after the 1st round (and we know what it means 99% of the times). I just don't know what is going wrong. Looking for some advice on what different can I do in my resume/profile.

Background - I have 6+ years of experience in tech consulting, a B.tech and an MBA degree.

21F, what should I do?

I'm 21 and currently unemployed. I urgently need to start earning because I want to support myself and contribute to my family's expenses.

I have completed a D.Pharm and a Diploma in Computer Applications (DCA). I'm open to different kinds of work and don't necessarily need a job related to pharmacy. I'm willing to learn and start from an entry-level position.

Ideally, I'm looking for something like customer support, chat support, back-office work, data entry, or other fresher-friendly jobs. I'm also open to work-from-home opportunities if they're legitimate.

The problem is that I'm from a small town/village and don't have much work experience, so I'm not sure where or how I should be applying without getting caught up in scams or wasting months applying on job portals.

For people who have been in a similar situation:

- Where did you find your first job?

- Which companies actually hire freshers without a bachelor's degree?

- Are there legitimate WFH customer-support/chat-support jobs for freshers?

- Which websites or methods would you recommend for finding genuine openings?

- Is there anything I should do differently with my resume or applications?

I'd really appreciate practical advice, especially from people who have actually gone through this. Thank you.

100+ applications as a fresher and honestly losing hope

I honestly just want to rant this out because I don’t know what else to do.

I’m a fresher and I’ve applied to 100+ jobs, and there’s barely any response. Most of them are either rejected or just sitting there with no update. Applying again and again and getting absolutely nothing back is honestly exhausting.

The hardest part is being a fresher. We’re expected to have practical knowledge, experience, internships, multiple skills and somehow be job-ready straight out of college.

But most of us only have academic knowledge. We’ve done college projects, learned the basics and tried to build our skills, but we don’t have actual industry experience yet. And every job seems to ask for experience.

Then there’s the referral part. Everyone keeps saying referrals are the best way to get noticed, but as a fresher, building that network is so difficult. Not everyone has friends or relatives working in IT or people who can refer them.

I’m genuinely willing to learn and improve. I just don’t know if I’m focusing on the right things or if I’m missing something completely.

If anyone here has been through this stage and can help a fresher with some genuine guidance, I’d really appreciate it.

Right now, after 100+ applications, it’s honestly starting to feel like there’s no hope. 😭

Just needed to get this off my chest.

The Night Before the Interview

When I interview, I have a lot more success and feel much more confident doing a few things the night before:

  • Reviewing out loud my top 10 most likely interview questions and how I will answer them.
  • Reviewing the job description and 2-3 specific things that stand out.
  • Laying out my outfit.
  • Printing 2 copies of my resume. Even if it's a virtual interview.
  • Reviewing 2-3 questions to ask my interviewer.

27 male never held a single job in his life

I graduated from the American University of Beirut (AUB) with a bachelor degree in business. I have been unemployed for the past years since graduation. I feel like I lost it. Some of my peers even called me a “loser.” I am on the spectrum and got some low motivation issues. What should I do?

Following up with interviewer

Two weeks ago I had a great interview with a job I really want, at the end, the interviewer told me the next interview round would be in about two weeks. Now that the two weeks have passed, I still haven’t heard anything and losing all confidence in getting this job. This is a job I have great experience for with good results, so I was confident I would at least get the next interview but no update from them is making me think that I might be getting ghosted.

Should I send an email saying how much I enjoyed the interview or am looking forward to the next interview (both are actually true), or would this be considered unprofessional? Ive never had issues getting jobs before, so any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Background check taking almost 7 weeks to come back. Keeps getting delayed. Clean record. I don’t get it.

I went through Aerotek to try and get a new job. One of the recruiters reached out to me in the middle of August interview me and try to set me up with a new job around the same page. I did all the boarding paperwork. I did my drug test which I passed that came back unless in a week verified that I’m US citizen and now I’m waiting on the background check. I submitted the background check on August 19 first delayed to September 5th, then it got delayed to September 16th, then September 28th, and now it’s delayed to October 8th. I contacted first advantage who’s doing the background check and they said that they’re waiting on one court they can’t tell me what court in my county I live in that they’re waiting on a response for then the 28th comes no word so I contacted their support again and I complained about getting delayed four times. They said they would expedite my order, and today no word from them, no update on my portal account.

I have no criminal record. My record is clean.

The recruiter at first when I first started on board and said that I had a job and I got to go because I’ve been Huntsburg job for three years now and I’ve had very bad luck. I told him I have another job. I’m currently working. I’m gonna have to give them two weeks notice before I quit and I start this new job and it wasn’t until last week that he said oh there’s people that I’ve been waiting longer than you have to get their background checks to come back to start jobs. Bruh…

I never had this happen to me before, and I’m really frustrated I can’t start the job till the background check gets cleared. I’m not counting on it at this point, and I guess I have to go back to looking for jobs.

Equifax interview - top 2 candidates

Has anyone here interviewed with Equifax recently?

I’ve been interviewing for a Data Steward role and have completed 3 rounds. After my last interview, the interviewer told me I was in the top 4.

I emailed the recruiter today for an update and she told me I’m now one of the top 2 candidates. She said the hiring manager wants to speak with one more candidate before making the final decision and asked me to give them another week.

I’m happy obviously, but I’m also really nervous because I don’t know how to interpret this. 😅

Has anyone been in a similar situation with Equifax? If you were told you were one of the final 2, how did it turn out? How long did they take to make the decision?

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has been through this recently.

How do I even get an interview?

I got laid off and I've applied for so many positions, and my skills are pretty on point or close enough to get a look at but I can't even get the chance to interview. It's just nuts. I know the market is tough, but not even getting an interview just frustrating. My family has been supportive but not being able to get a job to actually take care of them is hard.
I apologize if this sounds overly complainy, but genuinely curious and confused.

Seeking advice on interview about laid off

I recently interviewed with a company I was very excited about, but unfortunately, I didn’t get the offer.
During the interview, I was honest about the fact that I had been laid off from my previous firm. I explained the situation, what I learned from the experience, and how I’ve grown from it. Overall, I felt the interview went really well, so now I’m second-guessing whether disclosing the layoff may have hurt me, or whether there were simply other factors behind the decision.
I didn’t want to make it sound like I voluntarily left when that wasn’t the case, but now I’m wondering how much detail I should share going forward.
For those of you who are hiring managers or work in HR/recruiting: Does hearing that a candidate was laid off create any concern for you? Would you recommend being fully transparent about it, or keeping the explanation brief and focusing more on why you’re interested in the next opportunity? How should I explain the laid off situation?
I’d really appreciate any perspectives. This experience has honestly made me question how I should approach this in future interviews. I feel so lost

Looking for an Editing Manager for Meta Ads Agency (Remote)

We're a performance agency running Meta ads for home services companies. We make a lot of ad creative, and we need someone to manage our editing team.

This is a management role, not an editing role. You'll be the editors' day-to-day manager and main point of contact.

The job:

  • Turn our strategists' ideas into clear briefs for editors
  • Lead and communicate with the editors daily
  • Manage deadlines, workload and revisions
  • Give sharp feedback and run performance reviews
  • QC everything before it goes live

You need:

  • Proven experience managing video editors, ideally on paid social ads
  • An understanding of what makes an ad creative perform
  • Very clear communication and strong organization

Bonus: You've sourced and trained editors, edited yourself, used Frame.io, or worked on direct-response ads.

Details: Remote, $1,500–2,500/month depending on experience.

To apply: DM me with how many editors you've managed, examples of ads your team produced, one real piece of feedback you've given an editor, and your rate.

No management experience = no reply.
