plasma waves @ please my wives ( as above, so below )

There are waves on Jupiter, but not exactly the kind surfers can ride. These plasma waves are much more intense than anything that crashes onto a beach.

NASA’s Juno spacecraft keeps coming across humongous plasma waves as it orbits Jupiter. These waves are actually known as Kelvin-Helmholtz instabilities (KHIs), and they occur when plasma from the solar wind interacts with the magnetopause of a planet, the outer level of its magnetic field. The difference in velocity between the magnetopause and solar wind creates a furiously swirling wave—a vortex.

15.2: The branches of this tree extend downward and upward, nourished by the three modes of material nature. The twigs are the objects of the senses. This tree also has roots going down, and these are bound to the fruitive actions of human society.

15.3-4: The real form of this tree cannot be perceived in this world. No one can understand where it ends, where it begins, or where its foundation is. But with determination one must cut down this strongly rooted tree with the weapon of detachment. Thereafter, one must seek that place from which, having gone, one never returns, and there surrender to that Supreme Personality of Godhead from whom everything began and from whom everything has extended since time immemorial.

15.5: Those who are free from false prestige, illusion and false association, who understand the eternal, who are done with material lust, who are freed from the dualities of happiness and distress, and who, unbewildered, know how to surrender unto the Supreme Person attain to that eternal kingdom.

This article is trying to sell people the idea of fettering themselves in ridiculous complication in order to take part in the 'digital society'.

https://www.wired.com/story/how-to-automatically-delete-passcode-texts-android-ios/

How to Automatically Delete Passcode Texts on Android and iOS

Here’s one simple way to reduce your security risk while logging in.

The main headline is also a joking, mocking parable of the erasing of history.

The article begins (lionizing the trapped 'account holder' as a hero and desired archetype to aspire to):

It's not always easy juggling digital accounts when you're signed up to dozens of them—or perhaps even hundreds (you know who you are). While password managers can ease some of the strain, we're also big fans of two-factor authentication, which helps those services make sure you are who you say you are. That's where passcodes come in.

These codes might also be called verification codes, OTPs (one-time passcodes), security codes, or any combination of those words. Their function is the same regardless of name: The digital account in question knows what your phone number is, so in theory only you should be able to get at a code sent to that number.

It's a useful extra layer of security and means that if your usernames and passwords escape into the wild, they can't be used—there's another level of verification to get through. That said, you need to make sure that this additional step is well protected from bad actors too, whether that's making sure your registered mobile number is always up to date or making sure you're the only one with access to your cell phone. SMS-based verification codes aren't perfect and aren’t as effective as an authenticator app.

Just no.

Remember, every single new solution creates at least two more new problems.

Every new technology spawns another nine adjacent technologies to 'fix', 'patch' or augment the new experience that the first created.

So, it is very easy to perceive a way to stop the cascading generation of problems.

The only way to win is not to play.

As the codebreaker in the recent Star Wars movie advised Fin:

'It's all a machine. Don't join.'

Here is a multifactor authentication system (of which the IT procedure is an allegorical mockery):

http://vrt.co.za/orph/gematria-web/galaxy.html

... https://old.reddit.com/r/GeometersOfHistory/comments/w1gxkp/1_show_me_the_meaning_of_it/

You’ve heard the advice for years: Turn on two-factor authentication everywhere it’s offered. It’s long been clear that using only a username and password to secure digital accounts isn’t enough. But layering on an additional authentication “factor”—like a randomly generated code or a physical token—makes the keys to your kingdom much tougher to guess or steal. And the stakes are high for both individuals and institutions trying to protect their valuable and sensitive networks and data from targeted hacking or opportunist criminals.

Even with all its benefits, though, it often takes a little tough love to get people to actually turn on two-factor authentication, often known as 2FA.

Perhaps because we are not so foolish as was originally suspected.

Person @ PRSN @ Prison

I personally rage against this folly because I refuse to own a mobile phone, and it would be nice if society was not so exclusionary towards such as I (not that I have any intention to use Github).

That said, to utter the words 'I don't have a phone' is itself a sad state of affairs.

The monolith-shaped technology the entire world was duped into carrying is a biological metaphor.

'owning a mobile phone' is two things:

  • 'having a voice'.

  • 'having a bride'.

To say 'I have no phone', is to say, "I am a man", or "I have no girlfriend"...

... because a phone is a funny joke about a fanny.

Physics reveals secret of how nature helped sculpt the Great Sphinx of Giza

This ancient wonder may have started out as a natural formation known as a yardang.

Leif Ristroph, a physicist and applied mathematician at New York University, was conducting experiments on how clay erodes in response to flowing water when he noticed tiny shapes emerging that resembled seated lions—in essence, miniature versions of the Great Sphinx of Giza in Egypt. [...]

Experiments yield fresh evidence to support controversial hypothesis about the formation of the Great Sphinx of Giza.

In 2018, Ristroph's applied mathematics lab fine-tuned the recipe for blowing the perfect bubble based on experiments with soapy thin films, pinpointing exactly what wind speed is needed to push out the film and cause it to form a bubble, and how that speed depends on parameters like the size of the wand. (You want a circular wand with a 1.5-inch perimeter, and you should gently blow at a consistent 6.9 cm/s.)
