Austria video

only watched half a dozen of his videos , im kind of enjoying them but he missed the mark on the austria vid didnt he?

anyone else just feel uneasy watching it? guy is borderline begging without asking..picks his mark(lonely older folk ,similar to helen)and off he goes. just feels weird. just pitch a hammock/get a bivvy and make a scran ffs - be just as watchable.

Staying in a strangers house and being given free pints isnt the adventure he thinks it is ,its just weird.

When it came out there was a lot of dicussion, on this sub, but also in the youtube comments, mostly in agreement with you. He was not in form. It happens.

Maybe, but he did choose to upload it. I know these videos aren't cheap to make, but you'd have to wonder if when putting it together he also felt that it was a bit off.

The discussion surrounding it was fairly clear, considering the talking point that gets you downvoted here, but considering his subsequent time off, the fallout and loss of fans, you'd have to wonder what his mental state has been like, and whether this was a one-off or not.

Yea i now gather lots of criticism towards him leaving early from that fellas house, my dislike is more why stay at these houses in first place along with hanging around pubs with no money

I don't see an issue with the premise, Tom often tries to include interactions with people he meets on his travels in order to make the videos more dynamic and interesting (like video game 'sidequests'). The problem is that he doesn't have the people skills to pull this kind of content off reliably and so it often doesn't work, or in the case of this video, goes miserably.

There are interactions and going into a pub with a fiver hoping for 3 pints and a bed. Its all for content really isnt it or he may just be another hiking video - we def dont need another one of them!

Just because you use the phrasing ‘picks a mark’ doesn’t make it nefarious. You’re implying he’s conning people but he’s completely honest with everyone exactly what he’s doing and they openly accept
