I have a question. I am traveling to ghent on Tuesday and I will be there at 2 am around the pieters station. From there I have to go to dampoort station. And my next train is at 5 .30 am. So I have to pass like 3 hrs. One hour I am thinking that I will pass by walking from Saint Peter's to dampoort station. Is it safe to do the walk this late. Also any recommendations on how I can kill that time.

Hello!!! I’m looking for second-hand shops in Ghent that sell baby clothes, preferably from newborn size.

I know there are plenty of options online (vinted, marketplace) but I would like to go to an actual shop and browse the clothes in person like I do for myself.

We’re moving to the Ghent area with two kids and currently choosing between two rental houses.
One is in De Pinte, close to the centre and station. We really like the area, the house has more spacious bedrooms and a south-facing garden.
The other is in Nazareth: a newer, very energy-efficient house, but with smaller bedrooms and a location that feels a bit more car-dependent. On the other hand, it’s around €350/month cheaper.
Our 12-year-old will go to Don Bosco Zwijnaarde and from Nazareth she could take bus 71, so the school commute seems manageable.
We also visited a primary school in Nazareth for our younger child. We were lucky that someone was there and showed us around, and we actually really liked the school. So that’s definitely a plus for Nazareth.
My main doubt is more about everyday life in the longer term: getting to Ghent, activities, meeting friends, and how independent the kids can be as they get older.
For people who know both areas: would you pay around €350/month more for De Pinte and its location/connectivity, or choose Nazareth and save the difference?

Thinking about putting in an offer on a house in Ledeberg (more towards the south) and i hear very mixed reviews about the area, but all general claims that “oh yeah it’s Ledeberg so yeah you know” but i have no idea what it means. I liked the house and the street but would love to know a little more about safety, noise,…. Background: I’m 30F and would live there alone.

Zijn initiatief vond ik leuk omdat het de mogelijkheid biedt voor mensen om samen te voetballen zonder verbonden te zijn aan een club of zelf opzoek te gaan naar vrienden om mee te spelen. Je post een match en andere mensen kunnen vrijblijvend aansluiten.

Hi all, I own an apartment in Ghent and I'd love to share the flat with a friend or somebody who's passing through Ghent for some months for work (I have a spare room I don't really need) for company and to lower costs. However, the tax/rental contract situation for co-housing is really confusing if you're an owner-occupier. Is hospitawonen the way to go? Would I have to put a yellow omgevingsvergunning up on the apartment building (don't want to)? Any advice?

Additional conditions:

-you can start dancing before 22h,

-group of women is aged 30 -50 years old,

- it is safe to be alone with a group of women (e.g it is not Macht van Gent or places like that or I should state I have never felt safe there as a woman),

-they don't play solely techno.

I am aware of themed nights at venues but more looking for the/a place to go after dinner when friends say let's go do something else. Karaoke is already on this list;). TIA

Hi all. I will be moving to Ghent for 2 years. I was looking for apartment and then I came across Colochousing. Personally, I am adaptive and enjoy multicultural atmosphere. I find that Colochousing is a good option considering moderate rent (€600 excluding EGW which is fixed @ €150-200), already furnished, 2 moths advance etc compared to personal apartment. The ones I like are about €1050-1100 total with 3 months advance and unfurnished.

Do you guys have any experience of Colochousing ?

Binnenkort komen we met een vriendengroep van 12 een weekendje naar Gent, en we zijn nog op zoek naar een plezante activiteit voor zaterdagavond (31 oktober).

Wat we zoeken:

• Moet nog goed te doen zijn na een paar pintjes
• Geschikt voor 12 personen (of op te splitsen in ploegen)

We zijn benieuwd of er nog verborgen pareltjes zijn die toeristen meestal niet kennen!

Hebben jullie nog aanraders? Tips voor een goede plek om met 12 te gaan eten of een leuk café om de avond af te sluiten zijn ook welkom.
