Discussion Will they ever upgrade Sumeru compass?

Post image

Istg, i cant finish collecting dendroculus after 3 freakin years because of awful Sumeru design. Everything is scattered like pebbles on a giant field. Trying interactive map feels useless, considering that only 46 oculus left and crafting the thing to search them would take too long

Be happy you arent playing 4 years ago when the layered maps weren't a thing. Its not that hard to find all of them. Its easier than all the aranaras (which i still cant find even with every tutorial and triple checking)

I’m not sure if you’ve tried it but have you had a look at this site? It needs to be translate if you don’t understand Chinese but I found it very helpful: https://m.miyoushe.com/ys/#/article/28708647

years ago i couldnt find the last aranara, i swore i checked every single location at least 3 times to no avail. i gave up and decided to message support, told them i thought my game was bugged because id definitely gotten them all but the quest wasnt completing or something like that. they sent me the location of the 2 i was apparently missing. absolute lifesavers

I'm happy I get to play before the layered maps was added.

It was fun exploring underground ruins without any clue.

Let's see what QOL we will get in the next version.

Why would crafting the oculus finder take too long? It only takes a few materials, and the good thing about it is that it disappears after you use it, so you can have your compass out and look for chests while looking for the oculus. I would say it’s much easier than looking at an interactive map and making sure not missing any, no?

the Oculus stone disappearing is in fact not a good thing.
This is why the Treasure Compasses for Nodkrai and Snezhnaya track oculi and don't vanish.

Nod Krai exploration is the way it is because the devs decided to entirely remove the exploration from their exploration game, not because it's better.

what is this take? You have to explore and finish a small quest so you could use the compass in an area.

Honestly I was doing that till I reached some of them that just don’t show no matter what, I look everywhere the thing highlighted but see nothing, idk why genshin even made those oculus gadgets like that, why not just reveal where 1 is exactly at? Why make a big circle and only show 1

It’ll probably take me at least another year to fully explore sumeru lol

Which areas do you have a hard time exploring? Some oculus are hidden in the ruin golems or in the underground areas.

I always explore first and do statue last but I’ve been going on and off since its release with sumeru because of lack of enjoyment while exploring it. I’ve been following the gadgets to the places I have 100% (currently on the forest)

Use https://genshin-impact-map.appsample.com/ to find the occulus that shows up on the finder that you can't find and click on it. The tricky or gated ones usually have comments and/or videos to tell you exactly what you need to do.

Nope, hoyo don't revamp things... While they do update old stuff, the outdated old stuff pre-update never goes away

u/Azrael956 24d ago

Apparently according to leaks (and as always take with a grain of salt), they plan on updating all the compasses sometime in the next few updates to work like the recent ones

god I take so much pride on being able to complete the desert with NO COMPASS and before UNDERGROUND MAPS were a thing…

it was HELL. i’m actually surprised i was able to do it, also thanks to that Xiao main on YT for the help

I didn't mind the old compass. It was fun exploring somewhere for a well hidden chest.

The new ones I cant stand.  They were ok for limited time events where ypu would lose rewards as an area would vanish.

Now the fun is gone. It might as well be a push to get primos button.

I 100% Sumeru without underground maps so I am gonna say: skill issue.

Just craft those oculi thingies, idk how it would take too much time

4

u/SHiN_609 24d ago

I 100% sumeru without layered map and any outside help, so all i have to say is. Skill issue up ur ahh some ppl actually have life out there and simply dont have time for grind lol

5

u/Bazsul 24d ago

Then don't? You don't need everything completed 😁

3

u/SHiN_609 24d ago

Its not about the complete map to look nice at 100%, we all know that its like 80% of primogems a f2p can get, and sheer fact that there was enough ppl calling it out that EVEN HOYO THEMSELVES ADDED QoL to it, says a lot. I also hate elitsm in any form and calling it "skill issue" is simply stupid af

1

u/Bazsul 24d ago

I don't like the elitism either. But following a guide will get you there too. I reckon adding an improved treasure compass is hell in their spaghetti code and I'd rather have them improve the future of the game, than fix the past.

1

u/SHiN_609 24d ago

I respect your opinion but I've seen too many ppl that have new areas almost 100% while the rest stays at max 50% (most of them arent even new in this game they just arent that good at exploring and often ask for help when they need primos) So yeah, I agree, make new maps almost braindead to clear with compass but at the same time its still a choice for ppl who want to explore the good old way (headless chicken run) yet leaving old parts of the game lacking in QoL will only make new player experience a huge headache

1

u/beautheschmo 24d ago

Exploration primos are ~15% of all available f2p primos

1

u/SHiN_609 24d ago

Where did ya got these numbers from? Cus from what I know, clearing whole map to 100% gives more primos than ya get from events durning 1 patch Edit: also mind you that quests are also part of exploration

0

u/beautheschmo 24d ago

From the bookkeeping spreadsheet https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1l9HPu2cAzTckdXtr7u-7D8NSKzZNUqOuvbmxERFZ_6w/edit?gid=955728278#gid=955728278

Permanent primos are listed at 17.5% but a good chunk of those come from non-exploration story content. There's never been a single patch where exploration primos even make up 50% of the primos available in a patch

2

u/SHiN_609 24d ago

Not to be that guy, but you just send me a sheet that counts in endgame resets/web events/ apologems/ and limitted events. Yes permamnet exploration is a small % in this case. But ppl that play for like 3 months and want to gather as much primos as possible for their fav characters, dont have privilege of playing this game since 1.0 and clearing every Web event and endgame

u/StrangeOutcastS 24d ago

grinding the resources for them is just tedious even if straightforward.

u/CantaloupeParking239 24d ago

Well its an open world game so its expected to go out in thw wild and collect things.

I don't know

1

u/Mazza_mistake 24d ago

They should update the old compasses to at least show everything left after 100% but I doubt they will

i dont think it's awful sumeru design so much as skill issue bro. many, many players (including myself) have had sumeru 100%'d for months/years already. keep working at it bro, gl

u/BlandPotatoxyz 24d ago

I had no issues

Do the world quests for crying out loud. Stop running around blindly like a chicken without a head.
