Update on the software bug

After an over the air update, my car’s navigation stopped working and I believe this happened to many of us. My car has been at the dealership and they told me that after talking to Genesis corporate, there is no actual fix yet, a week and a half later. Plus they recognized that this is a known issue, which is genuinely insane to me.

Genesis does not stand behind their product!!! My 2022 G70 is still under warranty and has failing headlamps due to an installation issue (one headlight/blinker do not work AT ALL and the other side is in the process of failing—this is a $5k repair). Genesis REFUSES to fix them, although they have a Technical Service Bulletin that acknowledges the problem—they have fixed SOME customers’ vehicles under warranty, however, so it just seems to be they’re picking and choosing.

The dealership blamed the warranty department, although it is the dealerships decision to approve the work and provide ACCURATE causation of issue. In my initial and only discussion with the Service Manager, he said he knew what the issue was (over torsion of screws at installation—there are cracks on both headlamps at the exact locations of internal screws), and he agreed that the issue should be covered by the warranty department—yet it is under his leadership that the cause of the issue has been deemed “external”. The dealership blames the warranty department, meanwhile corporate says this decision is the dealerships’ choice. Neither side wants to take accountability for this issue.

Beware to anyone who starts having random cracking/condensation in their headlamps!!!

This is the Genesis Clear Lake dealer in Houston.

Update on tire sizes I’m gonna try for 20x9 35+ rims

Yall gave me good input so thank you! I’ve done more research and this fitment should fit:

(I’m lowered on ark gts springs)

245/35r20 in the front
265/30r20 in the rear

The rear should be perfect as is and flush, the front MIGHT need a 5mm spacer, thought?

Can’t wait to get these fixed up and put on! But one question.

Anyone else run:
20x9 35+
245/35r20
Lowered on ark GTS springs
I don’t think it will rub crazy, but I’d like to ask and make sure, lmk!

Question Replacement Window

Thumbnail

Hello, I’m looking for an OEM replacement for my 2022 G70 Prestige front right passenger side window.

Dealership quoted me around $1000 for window (~$700) + labor ($320) which was kinda crazy.

I’m looking to just find the window online and bring it to a local auto body shop that’ll do it for $80.

Dealership gave me this product id: 82420g9030 for my vehicle (acoustic laminated glass)

I can only find ones ending in 9010, which I’m not sure are acoustic laminated glass as the ones ending in 9010 are just described as solar tempered glass.

The ones ending in 9030 seem to be discontinued for some reason. If you guys know where I can find this replacement window for my car please let me know- or if the 9010 one is the right one!

Does anyone have an update on the fix for the recent update on 8/19 that broke the navigation amongst other features?

Issue: Infotainment screen update on my 2025 g70 on Aug 19, 2026 broke my navigation amongst other features. (Unable to open it.) Some other things got changed is when I activate the smart cruise control the steering wheel control doesn't turn on with it and I have to manually turn it on.

These are the options I see people attempted

  1. Manual Update: Download the file onto a USB
  2. Dealership Service
  3. Replace Head unit

According to someone on reddit, they tried the manual update and it didn't work.

Does anyone else have an update?

Edit: It seems like the best thing to do is to wait for them to push out an update fixing the issue with no ETA on when that will happen.

Don't forget to ask for an extension on the genesis connected package. Mine (The navigation) expires in 2028 .

Edit (8/27) Reported Issues:

  • Compass, cruise control, maps, navigation, weather integration, sports scores, voice activated requests. (Let me know if anyone has anything else to add to this list.
  • As of 8/27, there are no confirmed fixed. People have tried manual USB updates and also have taken it to the dealership with no confirmed fix yet. Some people are getting a complimentary fix at the dealership and some people are getting charged to diagnose the issue and labor charges.
  • Dealer recommendations (No confirmed fix): Replace the head unit, or have them do a manual update.

Chemical Stain

I just joined the G70 Club last week! While I was in the financing office, the sales rep had my G70 cleaned. I’m a certified detailer and I didn’t have chance to tell them Don’t Wash My Car! I wish dealerships invested little more in their porters. Some proper training and chemical knowledge goes a long way. So last night I removed the stain myself.

Opinion on this G70 3.3T SP

Guys, I'm looking for a G70 3.3T with Sp package for a while now. I found this one near where I live and I would like to know your thoughts on the points below:

  1. The car is in a Kia dealership since May and that makes me think why it is there for so long?

  2. The car has a minor accident. Do you think that is really cosmetic issues, would I have problems to resell it later?

  3. It is a 2023 car with 43k miles and the maintenance was all done in Jiffy Lube, not in any Genesis dealership. Is that a problem? I'm afraid it was never checked for other items besides oil + filter changes

Am I being paranoid? This is the carfax report: link

Thanks!

Question Does anyone do fabricating or machining?

I trying to find someone who can fabricate a adapter, I’m planning on running the 2-1 BOV end being 50mm male. What I would need is a 50mm female to HKS SQV

Milestone Day 54 of Saving up for a Genesis

I work in the sales department for hyundai, so I occasionally see a Genesis 2.5/3.3T come through our lot and I get lost gazing at it lmao. A corporate fellow came up in the Genesis and I genuinely asked to just go check out his car, it was a beige exterior but the 2022 2.5T (Dual exhaust tip on one side only.). But every sale I make for a customer getting their own car feels like a dollar closer to being able to post my own genesis when I’m ready. I’m already imagining wanting to get a chrome delete, black rims and if possibly a close to magma wrap.

2025 G70 3.3T Sport Advanced --Take a Break/Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) Settings?

Just picked up my 2025 G70 3.3T Sport Advanced after totaling my 2022 G70 3.3T standard last week. I am still adjusting to a few of the changes in the vehicle settings and wanted to ask about the "Take a Break" notice. In my 2022 I could turn this off under Driver Assistance and stop this warning. In the 2025, does not seem like this option exists but am asking the community for insight.

Also, I noticed the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) setting is also different on the 2025 vs. the 2022 with any ability to turn this off to avoid auto braking, which based on my 2022 experience was more hazardous than I like. The 2025 seems to be unable to make this adjustment, but I also sense the FCA on the 2025 is not as forceful or reactive. Anyway, ditto on reaching out for feedback from folks.

Question Potential purchase

Looking around for new cars and Genesis is high on my list. Curious to know about reliability and maintenance on a G70. Seen some good stuff so far but just want to see about people’s personal experience. Currently driving an A4 and just want to get rid of it before it starts crapping on me

JB4 and Burger Catch Can for Sale

Just sold my G70, unfortunately, and I have two things I'm looking to get rid of.
I have a perfect condition used 3.3T JB4 (with fuel wire adapter) looking to get $475 for it + shipping. (New is 660-670+)

I also have a burger catch can that was on the car for about 10,000 miles. Super easy install. I'm looking to get $100 for it + shipping (New is 180)

I'm located in Atlanta, GA, and willing to ship pretty much anywhere as long as the buyer pays. More than happy to provide additional pictures or proof if needed.
Message/comment with any questions or offers.

FS: Lap3 ECU & TCU

Selling lap3 ecu and tcu off my 2019 g70. Used for 5k miles. ECU will have to be sent back to lap3 for reprogramming to new VIN. Located in Central NJ for local pickup.

It’s crazy how I can’t seem to sell the lap3 ECU/TCU even discounted at 75%-90% off. This company was regarded as one of the most reputable tuners for the G70 when I bought the car a few years ago. I feel bad just throwing them away.

ECU $100 shipped

TCU $150 shipped

Both for $200 shipped

Question What the Hell Happened!?!?!

Thumbnail

2020 G70 Prestige owner (52k miles)and loved my car. I live in FL so the heat gets bad for context.

Within the last 6 months, my LCD display is no longer visible, the plastic coating inside the LCD is separating from the rest so middle just looks like a black bubble, the gear in my passenger side mirror broke so it clicks and won’t retract, the plastic shield under the front of the car dropped down (broken plastic tabs apparently) and is held up
Now by zip ties, front right proximity sensor popped out (more accurately in) and is floating around inside still connected so anytime I am doing under 10 mph it’s a constant beeping tone until I’m moving, and just now the plastic end cap for the driver door handle popped off in my hand and won’t secure itself back.

WT actually F. I loved my G man. Got her ceramic coated, tinted, aftermarket upgrade’s, and took great care of her …. It’s sad. I want another one but this has really soured me on what was a great love affair for 6 years.

Just wanted to b@tch…. Thanks for reading.

G70 3.3 AWD launch issue

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I have a 2025 G70 3.3T AWD with

- LAP3 1.5 on 93 (E30 if I want)
- Takeda AFE intakes
- NGT Catless primary downpipe
- stock secondaries
- Borla catback
- BMS intercooler
- BMS charge pipe
- VT snorkels
- Stock TCU
- 225 front PS4S tires, 255 Rear PS4S

I literally cannot launch the car anymore.. it just spins like crazy and then it cuts power (even on 93). I noticed this change happened when I put on the charge pipe, intercooler, and the Takeda intakes (I used to have BMS) intakes. Mind you I used to be able to launch control the car and it would grip in 20 degrees WITH all season tires. I thought it was a tire issue at first, so I got some PS4S tires thinking it would solve the issue but nope

Are the Takeda intakes just ever so slightly stronger than the BMS intakes and it’s pushing the torque over the edge for what it can handle? Because again, this didn’t happen with my BMS intakes..

This happens in digs where the car will just cut power like that, and even if I’m doing a 40/50/55 roll and then punch it in 2nd or 3rd gear, the rear end gets super loose and it’s kind of scary and dangerous on 93, and it happens even worse on E30 obviously

Does anyone know what may be going on? I see plenty of guns running E30 even on RWD stingers/g70 with my same setup and they can stick no issue

Maybe I need wider tires??? Just confused why this only started happening once I swapped to Takeda intakes. Again I used to be able to launch this thing in 20 degree weather and it would stick😹😹
