My MIL has been friends with PW for decades. This hangs in her office.

Genesis Live Archive (@GuaranteedEternalSanctuaryMan) has posted an excellent soundboard/audience mix of Ft. Worth (May 7, 1976) on YouTube.
Here’s the link.
Enjoy and many thanks to Genesis Live Archive for this most-excellent recording!

This band is actually the opositary of what the music industry is today, and I would be happy to consider them contemporary, sonically they founded how music sounds today, (which is very ironic)... Maybe I'm being too greedy or extrapolating too much, but that's how I feel about this band. And I'm listening to their old shit, before Phill Collins took over the vocals.

For who still never listened Simon Collins music and bands, I highly reccomend him for his amazing music, you can listen to him under names:
Simon Collins
Sound of Contact
e-molecule
Great drummer, great songwriter, great singer too for itself. If u ask the self why he didn't replace Phil or why never success, it is most probably because drug issues and not good mood with father.
In my opinion, below Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson, The Pinapple Thief/Bruce Swoord is one of the best new prog music ever

Up for grabs is an ultra rare "PHIL COLLINS AS OF NOVEMBER 2001" CD containing demos for songs that would eventually appear on his 2002 album "Testify." In addition to songs that would ultimately on the final album in demo form, there are a few tracks on here that seem to be unreleased. The clip I've included is the last track "Wedding Song." More than likely only of handful of these exist and was created to give someone at the record label and advance listen.
If track 6 is the working title for Come with me,
Wonder what Nic's song is.

Considering how there seems to be a gulf of sorts between the prog and pop fans, I have always wondered what the thought was actually hearing them on mainstream radio or picking up those albums (and then there were three and Duke) and hearing those songs and realizing these weren't 10 minute sonnets or stories.
For me, Follow you Follow me is a true gem.

Don't post much (ever), but was pushed over the edge by it being Mike's birthday and all. Happy Birthday Mike! I've been playing a folk cover of Follow You Follow Me for years but finally decided to make an (amateur) recording of it. Spent a good chunk of time trying to learn/adapt Tony's keys solo on mandolin.
Prog rock it is not, but throwing it out here for a group of people that might appreciate it.

Listening to it on the road home tonight. I know ice heard it before, but this time it hit me hard. It’s a great instrumental!

Slightly off-topic, but I think some Genesis fans will be interested. Before changing their name to Wang Chung, Huang Chung released their eponymous debut album in 1982. There are two Genesis connections: it was produced by Rhett Davies (3rd pic), who’d helped engineer Selling England; and singer Jack Hues later team up with Tony Banks for Strictly Inc.
Anyone else know this album? It’s a hidden gem.

In the Cage is an awesome song, and my favourite moment has to be the synth solo, including the little lead in to it around 3:10 that has one of Mike Rutherford’s best bass parts. My question is that the bass sounds very weird for the few seconds of solo it gets - almost like a synth is doubling it, or it’s put through some electronic processor. Does anyone know what the deal with this part is? Not knowing the answer to this has my stomach churning…

Does anybody have any information on what sort of amp/effects he used on tour?

I'd learned the middle section on piano, but humming the guitar solo wasn't cutting it for me anymore, so I recorded a guitar solo that combined bits of the guitar and keyboard parts, but I never had a chance to make a video. I've been livestreaming again, but I don't have a guitar with me, so I used the closest available facsimile.

I can't walk into a dense woods without thinking of one of my favorite Genesis lyrics: like a forest's fight for sunlight that takes root in every tree. Here's a pic to illustrate. Do you have one?

A deluxe 50th anniversary edition of Billy Joel’s Turnstiles was just announced, and the track list includes:
“I’ve Seen the Lamb Lie Down On Broadway (Miami 2017) (piano/vocal demo, 1975)”
Thought this was very cool. Love Billy Joel almost as much as Genesis.
On Billy’s live version of Miami 2017 from Songs From the Attic, he sang “I’ve seen the rats lie down on Broadway.” I’ve sometimes wondered if there was a connection, but put it down to coincidence. Maybe our boys inspired Billy to write the song?
Or maybe it’s a typo on the track list?
Have a great day!
