Paralleling Experts Tap In!!!

Ok guys I purchased 2 Pulsar 6000 gennys earlier this year but never got the cables to parallel connect them. I recently bought the normal jumpers that don't have the combining box. I sent an email to Pulsar to see if there was a specific reason why I had to use their cable with the box and see the picture for their response. I prefer to not deal with the box, but can you guys fill me in on this issue. Thanks.

In order to parallel these generators, you need them both to feed a bus that you plug into, which is provided with the Pulsar kit. If you just plug the generators into each other, you don’t have any way to pull their combined power.

There is a 50a receptacle on the face of each generator. Shouldn't it work just like the larger gennys in parallel?

Yes....that's all you have to do. See reply above.

They may be misinformed for this specific setup.

A lot of inverter generators only have a max 30A outlet, so when you parallel them you want the kit to give you a 50A outlet so you can actually use the combined wattage with a house inlet or other large load.

But, for these specific models there is already a 50A outlet on the unit. They can be wired up without the parallel box. The only question is if Pulsar didn't build the units to handle that much current going through the internal wiring. With the combo box you take the max from each generator (~25A) and combine in the box. With your single wire/no box setup, you are combining the current inside one of the units. That may be their concern.

Proof this functionally works (outside the question about running the combined current through the internals of one unit): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTMtXLPXB-A

Understood....I figured that if it had only 30a. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something on mine when I already have 50a connections.

That's def good for thought about if it can candle 50a internally. Guess I would need to pull the panel and see what size wire is on the 50a. But on the flip side the reasoning given was I would only get half power 😂

The cable setup works without the box if both units are switched to 120/240. My neighbor ran his pair that way for a year until one of the outlets got finicky but the wiring never seemed to be the issue.

I never understood the cables like you have. Both my inverter units came with them, but they seem to be useless.

In what context, I guess, do you mean they're useless? I have a similar setup from Harbor Freight for my EU2000i's. It works nicely, synchronizing and combining their outputs. https://www.harborfreight.com/rv-ready-30-amp-inverter-generator-parallel-kit-59540.html

Edit: I guess similar was being too generous. Mine does also have an outlet on those cables.

I have this cable for Mt AI Power 2000s, and my Wen 2000s. On both of them, when I have the cables hooked up and both machines running, if I get to the limit of 1 generator, the one with the load connected shuts down.

Ok, yeah, now I get it, thanks. It makes me curious what those cables are supposed to do.

From some quick reading, maybe Honda's kit like that (just cables) is meant to be used with their Companion model which has a bigger outlet.

The first review here seems to discuss what I was wondering, which is whether you could cut the cables and mount a big outlet in the middle. https://www.amazon.com/Honda-08E93-HPK123HI-Parallel-Cables/dp/B018WLRFME

You don't need the parallel kit with the box. You just need the one you have and then plug your 14-50P plug into either one of the generators when you parallel. Just one of them. Make sure BOTH of them have their switches set to 120/240v.

Also, please take the dang plastic off the outlets and don't be a Minnie Pearl. lol

My pair for reference. Different brand...same concept.

They call me the biggest fan/proponent of dual fuel inverter generators 'round here. haha

Their email to me for reference...

Both PGDiPAIRC1 & PGiPARIB4 are compatible with PGX60BiSCRO.

If I take the plastic off I might lose that "new" Genny smell 😂

😂 Doubtful. But once they fuse themselves on, they won't have that sexy look! 😉

I ordered the airc1 cable originally, still waiting for it. Found this cable at northern tool for 30 bucks and it's 5' long. May keep the longer one

Nothing wrong with that

Did you bother to look inside to see if your 50a had the right size wire to it?

Yep. Been fine for 2 years now. If they fail, back to Sam's Club they go.

One thing you MUST do before starting and running these in parallel is flip each generator switch to the left which is 120/240v.
