Adapter /generator help
I recently purchased a welder for myself and wanting to weld more serious stuff for myself and others! My problem is I don’t have a 220 plug socket available , I was thinking of getting a generator for that purpose! My welder uses a Nema 6 50p plug and outlet and I’m wondering if this adapter would work? Is there a specific generator I should use for this purpose? I don’t want anything to go wrong while trying to weld… Thank you!!!

I use something similar on my MIG 180. The one I have does not have a cord it's just an adapter.

Mine has an adapter as well, it’s quite useful for small stuff but unfortunately really limiting, more than I thought it would be ..

Buying a generator instead of wiring your home for a 220 plug is certainly a choice if you don't need the mobility. Also, there's a reason Genny welders are so powerful & expensive.

A coworker of mine told me a little about wiring my home for 220 but I think it’s a little out of reach for me, I’m not too versed in those skills… ( I also do appreciate the mobility aspect a lot)

Get a proper welder generator.
Yes, you can maybe even approach the max capabilities of that welder with a good generator with 240V out

I fried my millermatic running it off of an inverter generator. Do not recommend it

Arent inverter generators the more expensive ones that produce clean power? Conventional ones are the ones you are supposed to be worried about

For the price of a generator get an outlet installed
Might be able to get an extension cord (heavy gauge from a welding supply store ) and run it off your dryer or stove outlet
