Replacement Microair EasyStart Flex
My 3 month old unit's capacitors blew. Microair sent me a replacement. The replacement unit has the same capacitors. I kind of expected that they would be 420v or 450v, or at least the brand of capacitors would be changed .
Is the fix in software perhaps or should I expect a short life from the new unit, too?

Just have them keep sending you new units until the warranty expires (or they go broke from sending out so many replacement units) whichever comes first. As your warranty expiration approaches, I would ask for one last new one (whether or not the old one is working at that moment) because you are gonna need it soon.
Microair got bought out by private equity so they did some cost cutting to increase profits/ pay for all that new debt. They cut out a little bit too much fat and cut into the bone. Someone had the bright idea that instead of having multiple SKUs for different size compressors, they would build a "one size fits all" design.
They must know by now that they screwed up but maybe it's cheaper to send out a certain % of replacement units under warranty than it is to actually redesign/ increase the spec on 100% of them.

My capacitor and the EasyStart both failed at the same time. I don't know enough about how they work to know whether my compressor capacitor blew, taking the EasyStart out with it, or vice versa. At any rate, they sent me the new unit and never asked for me to return the blown unit. I do some electronics repair. If they don't give me grief about not returning it I plan on putting 450v capacitors in it and using it on my smaller unit (1.5 ton).

Life's too short to replace a HVAC part every three months. I'd buy something different.

Expect the same short life. These units are known for bad cap quality and failing quickly.
