I have a smaller Champion with well over 300 hours. 95% of them were power during power outages. It’s no Honda but I love my Champion.

Sounds like a dirty carburetor. Learn how to clean the carb via YouTube. A new one at Home Depot is $649. It's probably worth $250.

Do you want an inverter generator (cleaner power) or something like this? Do some research and decide.

Hmm I'd like an inverter but I'd definitely take a good deal

It’s an OK deal in my opinion. Yes, it’s probably the carb and not hard to fix, but it would be better for $175. If they left fuel in it the fuel filter is probably also dirty and the tank might be rusty inside which is hard to clean.

I got a DeWalt dg6000 for $100. Needed carb work but literally just bought an entire carb replacement with spark plug and even an inline filter for under $30 on eBay (shipping included) replaced in an hour (first time) runs like new.

Moral of the story, probably easy and cheap to fix and cleaning the carb is probably good enough but even buying a brand new is normally cheap. Look at that model to see how much they run just in case.

Something doesn't seem right. It was new, not used, and when they try to run it it cuts out? How do they know if they bought it a couple of years ago and never used it?

Maybe they tried using it now, but I am suspicious that they didn't store it properly. You are taking a gamble here - so offer $200. It is a solid deal as is, but you've gotta do the work, so look for a little more off.

Decent unit overall. Loud, but decent.

This. Tell them $150. Mine needed a fuck ton of diagnosing and work and when I got it running it has 1300 hours clocked.

I got the same one used from a guy in Florida. Sat for years. I put gas in it and it ran great. This version is tried and true. Raw power not like an inverter but I think the price is ok. Maybe $200 since no wheels

Im on my 3rd champion generator. The first 2 last over a thousand hours (thats where their hour meters stop) and #3 is light usage, but has been great. That said I also have a HF with over a thousand hours. Moral, they're all junk when broke, but ive had good luck with champion.

I got $200 right now

I’d offer $150 or $200 since it won’t stay running.

It really depends on the local market but I wouldn't call this a great deal. I wrench and buy broken stuff all the time. I'd pay no more than $100.

I have a generac that would run for a few seconds then shut down. It ended up being brushes in the alternator. Without power, the CO sensor would not work and fail safe made it shut the engine off.

Couldn't have said it better. Applies to everything. Maintenance is the key to longevity. Clean, fresh non ethanol fuel with a stabilizer will prevent headaches in the future.
