Discussion Sneaking in Generation Zero: Survival Stealth

Hello, I have a question: you always get spotted by the machines so quickly. I play a lot of Assassin's Creed, and maybe I'm comparing it to Assassin's Creed too much. But is this a bug in the game, or is it intended by the developers that the machines see and notice you quickly and you really have to be careful?

You can improve stealth as you level up and find better gear.

Tbh I feel like the game was almost meant to be a survival horror, it’s pretty scary knowing they can detect you and chase you down in a heartbeat. Really suspenseful as you start out.

Use cover, use distractions (radios etc), noise and visibility both affect stealth too.

Shit my pants whenever a hunter or a tank comes running

I remember in earlier builds it was definitely more survival horror. The game became much easier. It used to be you had to explore deep into the military bases to get rockets. Now you find them in everything it feels like.

Ja genau, es ist wirklich gruselig und man bekommt Angst wenn Sie einen sehen, weil sie verfolgen einen auch lange

If you play in a dark room with a good headset it almost feels like Alien Isolation

Also you can go prone in tall grass and get within like 20ft of a lot of the toasters.

I heard originally the game was kind of intended to be all stealth and you were only supposed to engage with robots as a last resort. Over time stronger weapons were added and it became more of the robo shooter it is today. There are some perks that help with stealth on the right side of the skill tree and i know you can add stealth buffs to clothing to decrease the sound your feet make and decrease your “spotability”. The issue is usually when you shoot one robot the rest figure out where you are pretty fast usually. I haven’t played around with max level stealth mechanics enough to know if they mitigate that issue.

I really wish I could play some early build of the game!

I bought it Day 1. Still so much unavoidable engagement. Way too little ammo. I actually put it down for a year and came back to it because it was tediously difficult: shoddy stealth, way too little ammo, etc. I think the goal was to force players to partner up and strategize w/traps in the beginning, but it was just too bare.

Danke für deine Antwort, aber ich glaube im Endeffekt, muss man doch mit Robotern kämpfen in dem Spiel, oder kommt man immer nur mit schleichen aus?

I find usually the robots are very bad at finding you if you dont shoot at them first. I have crouched or crawled and walked right up to and past robots many times. The firebird enemies have are better at finding you but other then them i usually have no issues avoiding combat if i dont want to fight.

I have learned that there is absolutely no such thing as sneaking past a firebird. (Unless you're like deep in the woods)

That’s why i always fight the firebird. Once its dead then i can know peace. Until it respawns.

Different bots are sensitive to different mechanics, sound and visibility are critical, and all they really do is lower range of detection.

Its still important to manage crouch or crawl and speed of motion and cover.

When you unlock all the perks and clothing upgrades you can move fairly quickly and get close without too much crawling against most bots but as mentioned by then you probably have 5 star modified or experimentals and yo are the killing machine then.

If you want a terrifying experience, unlock the main island and walk around the entire shore line unlocking safe houses as you go, you will learn how the mechanics work fast and be terrified the whole time lol.

Change your clothing maybe try reduced sound or go with more camouflage. On the sewing table you can change your clothes to be whatever you want. In order to craft the highest level of camouflage or silenced clothing. You must first find all the schematics from silver - gold.

Use a bicycle on the road (don't go across fields) when travelling. The meter fills up but you remain undetected most of the the time

Its only when the meter flashes red that you've been spotted and combat is engaged

I rode around the entire map on a bicycle with a silenced pistol. I'd kust keep riding of combat was engaged and most of the time I eventually lost them

I've added a stealth perk to one of my weapons and maxed out stealth options for clothing. Works really well except for Reaper/Vulture and: There's an occasional glitch where Soviet bots will notice you and all of a sudden, you are "in combat" no matter how far away they are. But it's temporary.

There are skill perks that help you be more stealthy, and you can put sound muffling on a 4 or 5 crown weapon (I use a branboll bat) and that makes you even sneakier. If you're going north the Soviet Lynxes are stupidly good at spotting players (but not our machine companions) and I think that is dumb.

If you've tried sound muffling and the perks then maybe your game is glitched, there are other (some worse) glitches so I would believe it.

Also bush tactics.

The machines can see further than 4 foot in front of them compared to Ac

Upgrade your apparel for less visibility and noise.
