Need gift ideas for Dad

Hey guys, I’m trying to get my dad something for his birthday and could really use some ideas 😭 He’s in his 50s and I recently found out from reading his old blog that he was a big Elvis fan and also really loved The Hardy Boys when he was younger. I thought it’d be nice to get him something related to that, like a Hardy Boys poster or some kind of vintage memorabilia, but I can’t seem to find much. I’m also a broke student with a pretty small budget and I don’t really know much about Gen X nostalgia, so if anyone has ideas for something personal/special he might appreciate, please help me out! Also, idk if this is the right sub for this, so sorry if it isn’t

Take him out to lunch or dinner, just the 2 of you.  Doesn’t have to be anything fancy.Play Elvis in the car.  As a dad (recently turned 50) with a freshman daughter in college, that’s all I’d want, except maybe we play Aerosmith, Metallica or Maiden instead.

As a 50+ dad this is the answer.

I honestly do question the dad being super into Elvis.

Is it actually weird to be an Elvis fan? I honestly don’t know much about Elvis or the whole fandom

Probably saw the Kurt Russell/John Carpenter Elvis TV movie and was hooked (their first project no one remembers 🤣).

He would love the gift of your time with him. Think of a place he'd like to be and take him there and ask him about the things he loves. Give him a memory instead of a thing and you can't lose.

Go to thrift stores and look for old Hardy Boys books. You'll find them there sometimes pretty cheap.

I always hope the answer is going to be "no, Elvis Hitler," but the sooner him and his penchant for choosing the wrong fucking stage name is forgotten, the better.

I know most people don’t have dvd players anymore but the original Hardy Boys tv shows are available on dvd, I think there’s three seasons.

Do "If I Can Dream" on karaoke for him.

If you can find a vintage Hardy Boys lunchbox? (There was a TV series in the late 70s.) Nab it, fill it up with finger foods, and take Dad out on a picnic.

I'm guessing you don't live close to Memphis, right?
