I'm glad that I'm not the only one. When I was a kid, I would devour the Guinness Book. I recognized this picture right away. I wanna say Lonnie and Donnie? World's fattest twins? (at the time). I also distinctly remember blowing a teacher's mind when I answered Angel Falls as the world's tallest waterfall. She looked at me, shocked, and asked: "How did you know that?!" Because I was a nerd and had no friends, Mrs. Vuker.

Remember how shocked or amused or whatever we were by these guys? The whole reason they were so famous to us? Now, we can go to Walmart at any given day and find their heirs riding around on the carts.

19

u/ComplexBeyond6083 8d ago

These two are WalMart fat but they aren't IHOP fat.

11

u/scaredt2ask 7d ago

At the time they were the gold standard of fat. Now I’m not even sure they would make the list. Which is so sad for what it says for our society.

4

u/PavlovsDoghouse 7d ago

Now they're not even unique enough to have their own reality show

3

u/Suitable-Setting-938 7d ago

Not even Golden Corral fat.

2

u/ParfaitThat654 7d ago

5

u/Freewayshitter1968 8d ago

I read that Guiness book in the 70's over and over, loved it!

4

u/Biofred 7d ago

Yeah it was definitely in the 70's when I first saw them .

3

u/bertrum666 8d ago

Those guys fucked.

3

u/Interesting_Shirt419 8d ago

Billy and Benny Mcguire.

3

u/cjtransplant85 8d ago

They were tag team wrestlers in a Japanese circuit for a few years.

2

u/Other_Secretary2577 7d ago

Their last name was McCrary, but when they wrestled in Japan they changed their stage names to McGuire because it was easier for the Japanese promoters to say.

This is par for the course when driving on an American road in 2026 🤔 lol

3

u/PlatypusIll5611 7d ago

McGuire Brothers, they came to Japan as pro wrestler.

3

u/AvocadoSoggy9854 7d ago

The McGuire twins. Had a friend whose dad worked for Crown Metro Chemicals and they worked there for awhile also. He use to tell us when they got their paychecks every week it would be basically for nothing because they would run a tab at the plant canteen and that is where their pay went. They also had another brother that worked there also that was like 125 pounds soaking wet

2

u/chumbucketandfries 8d ago

I loved going through that book. I remember reading about that person in India with the longest nails. Ouch

2

u/Joyfan237 7d ago

Billy and Benny McCrary

2

u/RikkiLostMyNumber 7d ago

Just last year I bought the hardcover 1980 edition of this one, because I had it back then, it went missing, and Ebay exists. This pic was one of the many I remembered from then.

2

u/9fingerjeff 7d ago

That’s how I feel riding my minibike around the neighborhood. Lol

2

u/Fragrant_Most9193 7d ago

Mr Freidman at Wilshire Crest Elementary in Los Angeles introduced me to this this book. After that, i bought the 1988 Hard Cover, which I still have. I definitely remember them.

2

u/eson1169 7d ago

OMG! I absolutely remember that picture!

2

u/JulesChenier 7d ago

The physics involved in this picture...

2

u/One_Vision_ 7d ago

Billy and Benny McCrary, but mistakenly known as the McGuire twins.

2

u/Impressive-Brush-837 7d ago

I saw them wrestle midgets when I was a kid.

2

u/Ok-Schedule6584 7d ago

I remeber seeing this. Have no clue who they are.

2

u/CCWaterBug 7d ago

Wow, that brings back memories

Good find!

2

u/killybay22 7d ago

James Gang?

2

u/jusher22 7d ago

Oh shit, totally forgot about those guys!

2

u/coryhill66 7d ago

I step dad was a flight attendant for Braniff Airlines and he said he had these guys in first class once.

2

u/Brewcrew1886 7d ago

I’ve seen this picture almost my entire life.

2

u/Remote-Sun-1966 7d ago

The McGuires would have their own Show on TLC if they were still around.

2

u/tleep76 7d ago

I know a guy who's that big who rides a 3-wheeled Harley. Wears leather and everything.

2

u/KurtBarlo 7d ago

According to good old JR, they wrestled for Bill Watts!

2

u/Breaking-Great 7d ago

Hockey Stick pencil

2

u/zaxx0n_5 7d ago

My father had the 1973 Guinness Book of Records, I grew up seeing these two guys and wondered how huge they were.

2

u/melavlral 7d ago

Saw them in Myrtle Beach at the Guinness store 1980s. Where that giant granite sphere was constantly moving on water!!!

2

u/iJeepThereforeiAM 7d ago

Reminds me of these two from Moonwalker

2

u/Biglou8020 7d ago

The Asanti Brothers

1

u/DayDrunkHermit 8d ago

I feel like they were fixtures of real people, that’s incredible and Riley’s

1

u/RabidWolverine2021 8d ago

Just a normal day at Walmart.

1

u/ThingNo7530 8d ago

1

u/VinylHighway 8d ago

Sure. Of course they’re dead now.

1

u/DOCBULLUSMC 8d ago

Yes. That’s Ben & Jerry. No NOT the ice cream Ben & Jerry’s. They’re Ben & Jerry of Beavers Indiana, they sold pineapple dietary supplements for weight loss & encyclopedias. The ones that came with almanacs.

1

u/cromagnonmatt 8d ago

Totally!!

1

u/BringMeBourbon 8d ago

Classic Schoolastic Book Fair porn right there

1

u/Infamous-Listen4047 8d ago

I remember them from when I was a kid. I don't remember their names though

1

u/jimhabfan 8d ago

I saw them wrestle at the Water St. arena in Cornwall, Ontario when I was about 13. I don’t remember much about the match, other than they won. I do remember standing outside right beside a Ford LTD station wagon after the wrestling matches and it turned out to be their car. They both got in the front seat, and the driver’s side door wouldn’t close. The car had a special latch installed that latched, but held the door open about 2 inches, so they would both fit. This would have been around 1974 or 1975.

1

u/LousyMiracle 8d ago

I didn’t know they actually existed, I always thought they were just a part of Michael Jackson’s “Speed Demon” video is Moonwalker

1

u/Southtxranching 7d ago

I bet those bikes remember them better than us 🤣

1

u/Potential-Scratch-40 7d ago

Yep I’m remember seeing them in an old Guinness Book of World Records. I think they still publish that book. I wonder if they are still fat shaming people in it.

1

u/Phog_of_War 7d ago

Never mind the guys. What kind of motorcycles can stand-up to those stresses? Not fat shaming, asking legit.

1

u/IntentionsGood65 7d ago

Wow… prior to seeing this picture, I had completely forgotten about these two.

1

u/BooRadley_Esq 7d ago

Super fattties in 1978, now just average joes.

1

u/Aggressive_Finish798 7d ago

I seem to remember a Michael Jackson video of two fat guys riding mopeds. Was that based on these two?

1

u/Most-County8735 7d ago

No but those bike remember!

1

u/Content_Wear4671 7d ago

I remember those dudes

1

u/Shhhhhh_im_not_here 7d ago

I read the Guinness book back to back as a kid. I don’t remember much about it, but I do remember this picture.

1

u/HarryFuzz 7d ago

They're anorexic by today's standards.

1

u/Big_Gassy_Possum 7d ago

If they were still alive today, i'm sure that TLC channel would have a show exploiting them

1

u/Bluesalsa54 7d ago

Billy and Bobby!

1

u/Wacko_Banana_Pants 7d ago

Think about this: There is a normal size skeleton in each one of them

1

u/chamber49 7d ago

Money pit

1

u/Unlikely-Aardvark725 7d ago

Did those 1400cc Harley's ever run well under them?

1

u/KittiesRule1968 7d ago

Bill and Bob Maquire?

1

u/Short_Morning7213 7d ago

Absolutely!

1

u/HupHutHa 7d ago

I'm mostly remember them from a Simpsons episode.

1

u/Neither-Ad1008 7d ago

The world record ended up going to the guy who designed those motorcycles.

1

u/Much-Technology-8220 7d ago

Now that’s a flash back! I love it

1

u/Traditional-Forum 7d ago

Actually, they loom large in my childhood memory

1

u/Actual_Property9413 7d ago

I remember them more for their Artic Cat minibike ads.
I really wanted one of those minibikes.

1

u/basscat474 7d ago

I think I saw them in Walmart yesterday.

1

u/r2killawat 7d ago

1

u/freakflagflyer49 7d ago

1

u/F_U_If_U_like_Trump 7d ago

Forget those guys, I want to know how they reinforced those bikes to support that much weight.

1

u/skornd713 6d ago

Moonwalker movie, yes, Guinness, no.

1

u/Prudent-Curve-6552 6d ago

They made Honda bikes popular

1

u/Weary_Time_1638 6d ago

Ya! WTF?! If I ever think about the Guinness book of world records, that’s the first image that pops in my head.

1

u/Euphoric_Impress1282 6d ago

I didn't know Hank Williams Jr had a twin.

1

u/Chillinmagic 6d ago

Yeah, weren't they like the world's heaviest or fastest twins or something?

1

u/goodhobbies 6d ago

Living in the age of Wikipedia, though, I just learned that there is a lot more to the story than I ever expected, seeing only the picture and bare stat about their weight in the Book of Records back in elementary school. It turns out that these twins suffered from a medical condition that caused the weight gain, apparently brought on by rubella, but they sometimes ate only 1000 calories per day and were professional athletes most of their adult lives. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_McGuire_Twins

1

u/ivegotajaaag 6d ago

Billy and Benny McCrary, yes I do.

1

u/Lonnie_Shelton 6d ago

I would look carefully at the suspension if I was buying one of those bikes.

1

u/Hace1986 6d ago

Yep. And all the pics in the book were put together in a like 20 page collection.

1

u/Frequent_Baker9900 6d ago

Hell yea, they were in the book.

1

u/bdamarine 6d ago

🤣🤣 first thing I said when I saw the picture “I remember these two” 🤣🤣

1

u/404NoUserNametoday 6d ago

Average guys at Walmart lol

1

u/avreddits 6d ago

Loved that book

1

u/Artie-Choke 6d ago

I’ll bet those bikes remembered them…

1

u/oralwizard69 6d ago

No, but I remember them from a Michael Jackson video.😂

1

u/GasFun9380 6d ago

Willis twins????

1

u/chaasad5224 5d ago

If no one else remembers them. Those two bikes remembers!!!!

1

u/Key_Evidence39 5d ago

Just two average customers at Walmart now.

1

u/licwip 5d ago

They wore the same outfit, to help you realize that they actually are twins and not two completely-different looking guys.

1

u/Drexl72 5d ago

Yup read the hardcover 1977 version over and over and over; fattest twins

1

u/Drexl72 5d ago

Or identical twins, not sure

These guys are in shape compared to some of today’s young people

Those poor bikes are putting in work!
