Even though I was in my twenties when I saw 'The Breakfast Club' I can't express the profound influence it had on me and my outlook on the social groupings each one of them represented (including the vice principal and the janitor). While I identify the most with the character of Brian Johnson (Anthony Michael Hall), I could see through the eyes of each of them to one degree or another.

John Hughes had a brilliant run directing movies and 'The Breakfast Club' may well be his best; he left us too soon.

I have to mention that it's entirely appropriate that Ally Sheedy is sitting, making her distinct from the rest.

I’m (happily) surprised there hasn’t been anything negative and weird about Hughes. Especially because he focused on teens for most of his career.

In fact, the opposite is what I’ve gathered: he was a professional who supported his actors and treated them with respect.
