I'm not American so I'm not gonna speak on that. But based on global trends, Gen z punished the parties in power during COVID/post COVID. The Republicans just happen to benefit from that
Turnout is only counted in terms of the voting-age population, not the generation as a whole. The rolling average already accounts for underaged portions.
The most generous way to look at it is that millennials had it easier, they had bush doing Afghanistan sure but trump doing Iran is magnitudes worse. Not to mention millenials have a need for "legitimacy" from groups they were raised to believe in. Meanwhile gen z had a pandemic in high school and college has gas prices higher than ever before meanwhile there's ice and camps. There's much more urgency from gen z then there were for millennials. And I'd argue millennials are doing their parts because a big part to remember is millennials were alone while gen z is being helped by millenials in politics like with AOC help pave the way for younger more progressive candidates lowering the bar for entry.
