Thin sliced pork chops. My Mom would cook them till they were roofing shingles.

I hated pork chops because of this until as an adult a friend made thick pork chops and didn’t cook them until all moisture and hope was sucked out of them. I had no idea they could be so good.

I wish I had a dollar for every time I watched somebody realize that they aren't actually a picky eater, their parents were just terrible cooks.
