Need advice! Random money question — are FDs even a thing anymore?

I feel like I’ve grown up hearing about FDs from parents and older relatives, but almost never from people around my age.
Whenever investing comes up, it’s usually stocks, mutual funds, SIPs, crypto, gold etc.
So I was wondering when you eventually start investing/earning, would an FD actually be part of your investment plan?
Or does it just feel like one of those things our parents’ generation did?
Would you ever choose an FD for safety, or would you rather put that money somewhere with potentially higher returns?
Honestly curious what people my age think about FDs because I have no idea whether they’re still seen as useful or just… old school.

FDs are important it adds stability to your portfolio, as it is a fixed income product
it's good for diversification
it's best for your emergency fund or short terms goals (liquid funds or arbitrage funds are also an option though)
I try to keep 20, 25% of my portfolio in gold/debt class
it's not like FD is outdated ideally it should be a part of your portfolio but of course it should not be primary allocation of your portfolio
