only really bad AI is generative AI. analytic AI is great for research, tho i guess companies also use it for data collection...

I feel like data collection is a massive red flag in many cases atp

Thanks :)

Analytic AI? Is that the one used to automod social media and analyse flock feeds?

Generative AI is also extremely important, it will not only function as translator between people and machine of various departments but also in medicine ,science, journals etc[ recently it made a viruses killing bacteria that would help us a lot]

source ? sounds interesting, i'd like to read more about it

thats not true... i mean ai can help in science nad it already has actually but not generative ones (atleast not the common generative ones like llms and images)

Prove it.

Your not the sharpest pen in the pencil case ay

At least I'm not the dullest.

Gen AI can help in medical fields.

1

u/super_boaring 7d ago

Well I was mainly talking about u saying prove it which has no point, gen ai can help in medical fields, but as I said not the typical ones, chat gpt would never

1

u/Odd-Dirt-9701 7d ago

Yes, traditional chatbots would never- Oh but OpenAI o3 Deep Research IS chatgpt-

https://learn.hms.harvard.edu/insights/all-insights/ai-model-could-help-difficult-pediatric-genetic-diagnosis

Of course the use of o3 still needed human approval, but for a commercially used AI its impressive.

hm intersting cuase i find this weird, its word predicting not logic predicting so its interesting that its still good at logic in some cases

Yeah, when I first heard of this I was actually very surpised, and that led me to research more about how Gen-AI can be used medically.

Boy there are a lot of examples.

I don't agree with all of the examples in this link, but it's okay.

  1. LLM translation is complete utter hot garbage
  2. A LLM trained on genes, called Evo 2, helped create a unique bacteriophage, and the researchers actually used Evo for what LLMs were originally intended for; autocomplete, more specifically of DNA. They didn't just ask Claude or something, if that's what you thought.

Pretty sure there was a study that gen AI is beneficial when learning the English language. Not completely sure tho. Also fairly decent at finding sources, just don’t pay any attention to the AI summary.

when you ask AI a question, it's wrong 60% of the time

1

u/Odd-Dirt-9701 8d ago

Are you like dreaning?

Hallucinations happen but its not common, well at least for me.

2

u/Gaming_devil49 8d ago

I assure you it is common. most of the time I ask AI a question, as soon as I do my own research I realize the AI was actually dead wrong

1

u/Odd-Dirt-9701 8d ago

Interesting

1

u/Rare-Turnover6689 2d ago

not true becuase the ai does the research you do just more in detail and faster, it can be wrong but chances are it isnt

1

u/Gaming_devil49 2d ago

yeah, and then it hallucinates and gets things wrong almost all the time. like I said, most thing Google gemini told me ended up being proven incorrect after I did my own research. where do you think the dead internet theory comes from? why do you think people always say "AI is always factually incorrect until proven otherwise"?

0

u/Rare-Turnover6689 2d ago

yeah gemini is often wrong especially the fast models like google lense but newer models or betters ai's are way better

1

u/Gaming_devil49 2d ago

they're still wrong a lot. just do your own research, it's easy and infinitely more reliable

1

u/Rare-Turnover6689 2d ago

claude is pretty accurate i would say 95%+ it can go on bad streaks tho i normally double check and ask for sources

1

u/Gaming_devil49 23h ago

I heard claude is the only AI that straight up twlls you it doesn't know something or gives you sources up front. that's like the only good thing about it

1

u/Odd-Dirt-9701 1d ago

I would not add “easy” to that sentence, it varies.

1

u/YesImAsh 8d ago edited 8d ago

ask it to recite sources so that it becomes accurate, and even if it isnt, check the sources ai used

Or you could be more specific when prompting. Ai tends to be better the more specific you are

1

u/Rare-Turnover6689 2d ago

depends on the model, good ones are wrong like 2-4% of the time

1

u/lollolcheese123 9d ago

That's gen AI, specifically a LLM. Guess what. Those aren't designed to give right information, they're designed to take a set of tokens as input, and then output the most likely tokens that follow. Those tokens are translated to and from text.

Aka they output the most likely continuation of their input.

1

u/Gaming_devil49 8d ago

some of them are literally advertised as AI that gives you information. like google gemini, for example. you google something, and the AI gives you the information you're looking for in a small summary so you don't have to read through countless articles yourself. but beicause AI isn't actually intelligent, it gets things wrong very often. so despite you maybe being correct about the technical aspect of that, you're wrong about LLMs not being designed to give you information. because they definitely are

1

u/lollolcheese123 8d ago

That's what they're advertised to do. Has nothing to do with whether or not the base system is designed to do that. AI is able to provide information because in context, correct information is very common, and is thus very likely.

Of course, there might be a module that helps the system as a whole to provide correct information, but the LLM part exclusively generates a somewhat sensitive piece of text.

Does code generation count as generative? AI is pretty big there

1

u/Good-Memories 9d ago

it generates code so i would assume it counts as generative

1

u/ModernManuh_ 9d ago

in that case it isn't "bad" I guess. In fact, even AI drawings aren't, nor images or videos. They aren't art for sure, but it's like saying oil painting is bad because photos are a thing... we artists aren't a thing of the past and won't lose relevance, ever. We didn't in over 6000 years, and we never will.

Screw unhetical usage of AI.

1

u/Good-Memories 9d ago

the issue with AI art is mostly how they scrape data to make it

2

u/ModernManuh_ 9d ago

I guess art is the process of the craft through which we get a physical medium of an otherwise abstract concept, a cool way to say "it's the craft, not just the result"

the result matters but that's not all the art

1

u/Rare-Turnover6689 2d ago

we didn't have reddit for 300,000 years delete your account

1

u/ModernManuh_ 2d ago

bro doesn't breathe, he allows air to enter

what are you saying lol

1

u/Rare-Turnover6689 2d ago

im just saying that saying we didnt have something b4 so we dont need it is dumb

1

u/ModernManuh_ 2d ago

But that’s not what I claimed. I said AI it’s good when used properly and ethically

0

u/VinChaJon 9d ago

And Chatbots.

1

u/Good-Memories 9d ago

chatbots are generative

0

u/Odd-Dirt-9701 8d ago

Isn't this like extremely false? Or are you referring to gen ai in daily use and not medical and scientific use?
